hmm could it be we are playing everymove right?

Post#1 » by Hemingway » Wed Jul 1, 2009 5:36 pm

If you've ever studied the game of chess than you are familiar with the thrill of closing a game out. Each move you make is made with more and more confidence as you push your opponent into defeat one move at a time. That is what it feels like watching the Celtics work this offseason.

The team has become so easy to predict because of Danny Ainge's level headed and rational moves that continue to gradually improve the team. First example: Sheed. The guy will fit in to our team flawlessly. Out of the entire NBA here is a guy that just seems like a Celtic, and now we are on the cusp of signing him. We will look at Hill or another 3. We will let Powe wait until everything is set. And we will explore better options than Marbury though there is likely no one better we can get.

I just wanted to make this post as a Front office appreciation thread. So many teams have to cringe at their front office's moves that are made out of frugality or incompetence. So many teams lack direction. We let Danny come in with a plan, a long term plan and let him carry it out and now we are the best team in the world!

We haven`t done anything yet. I will be happy if/when we actually sign the guys that we want...

Last year`s offseason is a reminder how everything can go wrong...

I agree with you Hemingway. I feel that most of the problems we had last offseason were not Danny's fault. Honestly, most of us still feel we could have won the championship again had KG stayed healthy. Last year's FA's were slim pickings. He made the right decision not to overpay or give too many years to the wrong people even if it might have helped us slightly.

Let's face it, if DA had signed Posey to the type of contract he wanted, we would be in no position to even think about someone like Sheed right now. And with the LLE, we can get someone arguably as good as Posey. Like I said earlier, if it wasn't for KG getting injured, we could have won the whole thing last year. James Posey or anybody else in last year's FA market would not have changed our outcome in the playoffs without Garnett. We made a hell of a run without KG. And now with him, along with possibly Sheed, maybe a Grant Hill or Anthony Parker, and a non-rusty Steph Marbury, we are in prime position to get #18.

Yep, Posy probably wouldn't have made the difference. But if we had Sheed, we probably still could have won it.

Rondo
Allen
Pierce
Sheed
Perk

that is still one of if not the best line ups in the league.

I'll be happy with the front office when they actually do something. Last offseason was a wreck, as was making moves in the regular season. Yes, KG being hurt was the biggest deciding factor in our result in the playoffs, but if we could've made two moves similar to the previous year like signing PJ & Cassell, we would'nt have struggled so much. PJ>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mikki.

I hope Danny knows what he's doing. Hopefully we get 'sheed or Hill or Daniels or Marion or a couple players along those lines who will actually help us this coming season. Also, hopefully Danny knows how to handle the Big Baby & Powe situations. We went from having the most depth at PF with KG, Powe and BBD to having NO depth with only KG b/c I feel BBD is gone and Powe is already gone (sniffle, sniffle, tear. Powe is my 2nd fave player behind KG in the NBA).

I'll praise Danny and the front office when they start making some moves. All this speculation does nothing for me.
