All this One-upmanship stuff
First Boston gets Ray and KG
Then LA Steals Gasol
Then SA Steals Jefferson
Then Clev Steals Shaq
Then Orl gets Vinsanity
Now we might get Rasheed....but hold on
Clev might get Ariza or Artest
Lakers might get Artest
It's like there's only gonna be 5 GREAT teams---with EVERYBODY ELSE Sucking!!!
All the good players on 5 Teams----I'm actually very frustrated by all of this Rich getting Richer crap-!!!

Re: OT:This is getting Ridiculous....
hey... at least we are one of those teams, must be hard looking up the ladder of your conference and seeing shaq, lebron, kg, dwight, ray, pierce, vince, lewis etc all on just 3 teams
the west is a bit more balanced at least, lakers obviously ahead though

It's like the 1980s. Who knew it would happen again in the free agent/salary cap era?
The Lakers had e players from the NBA's first Top 50 all-time list, plus a HOFer, plus a defensive player of the year. (Kareem, Magic, Worthy, McAdoo, Cooper, although I'm not sure McAdoo and Cooper were there at once.)
The Celtics had 4 players from the NBA's Top 50 list plus an all-star/Finals MVP plus two all-stars. (Bird, McHale, Parish, Walton, DJ, Ainge, Wedman, although I'm not sure Wedman and Walton were there at once.)
By way of contrast, the Cavs with Artest would be at a piddling 2 all-time greats, 1 DPOY/all-star, plus 2 other all-stars. The Cs with Sheed would at three likely HOFers plus 1-3 other all-stars (I think Rondo and Perk will both make all-star games before they're through ...).

Wedman and Walton were both on the 86 team....McAdoo and Cooper were both on Lakers at same time for a bit.

Re: OT:This is getting Ridiculous....
I think you're kind of exaggerating. The top teams have always had an easier time getting extra help. Especially with over the hill former stars (i.e. remember Payton, Malone, Pippen, Mutumbo, etc.) and MLE players.
As for all the talent being on just a few teams don't forget about Dirk Nowitzki, Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Deron William, Chris Bosh, Kevin Durant, Gilbert Arenas, Brandon Roy, Amare Soudemire, Chauncy Billups, Baron Davis, Allen Iverson, Elton Brand, Rudy Gay, Monta Ellis, etc.
There are plenty of great players that are only a few tweaks short of getting their teams to compete with the 5 you listed earlier. I mean I can totally see Miami or Denver or Dallas hanging with those teams you mentioned and likewise I can totally see San Antonio, Boston, and LA start to decline at any given moment as the best player(s) on those 3 teams are not exactly spring chickens. Orlando and Cleveland both have young stars and are threats to be perennial contenders but both have question marks with the support cast imo.
