Lineup for Next Year .... Who starts and who is the 6th man

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Tue Jul 7, 2009 5:20 pm

I think you guys are back at the top of the conference once again if everyone is healthy and the team to beat.

With that in mind, what will your starting lineup and bench look like? Does Rasheed start or Perkins at Center?

How many mpg do either of them get? How many mpg does Allen, Pierce and KG play?

Do you feel you have everything you need to win it all next season?

Same starting 5, Sheed as the 6th man - in my opinion.

Perk is starting and Sheed is the backup. I expect the minutes to be distributed like this: KG gets 30, Perk gets 28, Sheed gets 25 and the 4th big (Big Baby?) gets about 13. As for the last question, we need to make some more additions to round out the roster (backup sf (Hill?), 4th big (Big Baby?), maybe a pg) but overall we have a good chance to win a title if we stay healthy.

As of right now, my guess is this:

Perk 32 / Sheed 16
KG 32 / Sheed/Scal 16
Pierce 36 / Walker 12
Ray 32 / Giddens 16
Rondo 36 / House 12

but when FA is done I think most are hoping for...

Perk 32 / Sheed 16
KG 32 / Sheed/(Baby) 16
Pierce 32 / (Hill) 16
Ray 32 / House 16
Rondo 36 / (Steph) 12

Basically: if we match an offer for Baby, he plays some backup PF minutes split with Sheed... if not, Scal. Sign Hill to the LLE (looks somewhat likely) if not Hill, someone else either in FA with the LLE, or by trade (Nocioni, Posey, CJ Miles, etc.) Then lastly, if Marbury doesn't get a better offer than ours which most assume, sign him to vet min. If not him, maybe Lue.

And yes, with very minor adjustments I feel we have what we need to win #18.

I would prefer we sign and trade Baby for help at the 2/3 spots. Then, we sign a guy like Diogu or Joe Smith on the cheap to fill in for matchup, and foul trouble problems. I'd love to get a guy like Raja Bell, Anthony Parker, Belinelli, or dare I dream Rudy Fernandez somehow to play some 2/3 minutes. Hill would be great, but I'd prefer a younger energy wing.

Perk starts. No question. Sheed tho will get 30 mins at the 4 and 5 spot.

As long as we stay healthy, I consider us one of the favorites for 2010.

I agree with this.

I also think that Boston would like to add another rotation big so that none of these guys play over 30 mpg, at least not for 82 games. I think they will have both KG and Wallace take a little vacation through the year one way or another. Either way all 3 are closer to 2000 minute guys than 3000.

I agree ...

The minutes should lookin something like the following:

Rondo (37) / Backup (11)
Allen (35) / House (16)
Pierce (31)/ Backup (17)
KG (28)/ Backup (16)
Perkins (28) / Wallace (24)

Point Guard
Rondo is the franchise point guard. Boston should give him a good contract to ensure he remains a Celtic. I would like to wait and see if he can duplicate the performance he put on in last years playoffs first. When playing at that level, the C's are tough to stop. Boston should find a backup for Rondo, someone who can run an offense and make smart decisions, and preferably, hit an open shot. Someone similiar to Orlando's Anthony Johnson.

Shooting Guard
Ray Allen is entering the last year of his contract, and will probably get the most mpg out of the big three. His jump shot is a bit streaky nowadays, but he is clutch and automatic from the line. Eddie House is an energic backup who is a dependable shooter from long range. He is suspect on defense, but gives enough effort to earn minutes.

Small Forward
Boston should try and limit Pierces' minutes this season. I would love for Boston to pick up a young, athletic, scoring backup for Pierce. Someone who can come in and lead the offense for the 2nd unit. A player who takes on the role of say a JR Smith, off the bench. I dont think Giddens will be ready for those minutes quite yet, but will defiently get a chance to play in blowout games and spot minutes.

Power Foward
Garnett will be the starter and leader on both ends of the court. Unless Boston resigns Big Baby, Sheed will play both the 4 and 5 to help limit KGs minutes. A motivated Sheed can strengthen Bostons low post game when KG is not on the court, while opening the floor with his range.

Center
Perkins played well in the playoffs, and proved to be a nitty-gritty player. Hopefully, Perkins can prove to be a consistent double-double player. Sheed can also get minutes at the center position, when Doc decides to play him and KG, or him and BBD together.

2010-2011 years plans ...

Rondo, Pierce, KG, Perkins should all be back. Hopefully, we can use some cap room to replace Ray Allen, preferably with a young all-star caliber type SG. We should also be looking for a PF to replace KG when his playing days are over. And once again, spend efforts adding to the bench. Hopefully, Giddens will be a productive player off the bench by this time.

I see a lineup like this

Rondo(34)/Backup PG(12)
R.Allen(32)/House(14)
Pierce(31)/Hill(17)
Garnett(30)/BBD or other(16)
Perkins(30)/Wallace(24)

I don't want anyone besides Rondo getting more than 30 minutes. I think the deal should be Danny gives Doc 10 real players and Doc takes good care of them all.
