Well, maybe they pay him a lot more than we would. Gotta be that, because if the money is anywhere near being equal, and he opts for there, then winning is really not a priority for him.

Hill was paid a huge sum of money by the Magic years ago. He has never made it out of the first round of the playoffs for godsakes! Sign with a team that could legitimately win a title rather than a team that may barely make the playoffs!

So if not Hill, who is next in line?

I want Von Wafer. The anti Hill if you will. Young, athletic, explosive, fearless, proved he can be effective in back up minutes, and loves to try to dunk on people.

trivia: What does Von mean in a German name...means from....so he is from a Wafer...though it can also mean noble. I am at work and bored....that is my excuse!!
All time favourite Celtics: Bill, Dave C, LARRY, Kevin, X, Reggie, Alla, Toine and Paul.

Guys - forget the wiretap story. He was saying what every player says after every team visit.

What about Desmond Mason? Does he have anything left? He could be a decent addition, but, like Tony, he would be undersized defending small forwards.

I agree with a poster about Von Wafer. We should go after him. He gave the Lakers problems.

Wafer also gave the Rockets problems...there is a reason they aren't re-signing him...just say no...

With a Big Fat FWIW

A poster on this forum ihateginobli, or IHG, who apparently used to post on the Suns RealGM board and has a pretty solid reputation, said yesterday afternoon Hill is going to Boston.
It would makes sense that if the Knicks were talking 5 mil for one or 10 mil for 3 and he left without a deal and he knows he is going to get half that in Boston or Phoenix that the Knicks are out. PHX is also putting up pursuit of Marion which would mean at least the MLE and they didn't offer that to Hill so he is likely moving on.
At this point it is looking like that blind squirrel Tanguauy may have two nuts after all.

Re: Tanguay says Hill to become a Celtic
If this rumor is true I will be pleasantly surprised. After some things Grant said, along the lines of wanting to be compensated for his minimal salary the past two years in PHX. That's not normally something you would say if you really are planning to go to a team that he absolutely knows cannot offer more than the LLE. On top of that, why is he saying that about PHX? He should be thankful they gave him the opportunity to play and be put in the position he is in now given his insane injury plagued past and the way their Medical Staff worked miracles for him. Having said all that though... go get him Danny!

I think if he were to stay with Phoenix, which is not a title contender anymore, he wanted to get compensated for playing on the cheap. Since he is still ringless, and made tons of dough on that ORL contract, if he can sign with a title contender he will do it for less.

How long a contract can we offer with the LLE? Could we do 3 yr/6 mil? that's not as high as NY but at least it's 3 years...

I'm gonna be in no-internetville, NH for the next 5 days. Guess I'll have to wait anxiously and hit the internet the second I get home to find out if this went through.

It would, but would you want to give up all that for Hill AND pay him like 4mil/yr?
I don't think he's worth all that.
Plus, why would PHX do that? they are trying to clear payroll, they don't want our trash.

He turned down more money from Boston two years ago to go to PHX. He could have opted last seaon and come to Boston and decided he would stick it out with Shaq and Nash. Now that they have to either use his early bird rights which would be a two year deal or the MLE they are balking at taking care of him. They could give him the full mle for the season and let them make someone else take less.
Boston can and should offer him the LLE 2mil for 2 years.
