Why does Big Baby have to rethink his value? Has he turned down an offer?

He hasn't turned down an offer, but he hasn't accepted, seemingly, the only one given.

Why would he accept what essentially is his minimum salary before free agency starts?

Drew Gooden will likely command the full mle or close to it. Teams are going to look to lure guys in on the one year full mle deal, which can't be done with Davis.

The Hornets need Baby to sell tickets in Louisiana.

The Celtics do not want Posey's contract, so he's not realistic.

But Danny was rumored to like Antonio Daniels who has 6,600,000 on the last year of his contract. They could do a Baby and Tony Allen for Daniels and sweetener(s)- maybe expanded to include other players. As long as New Orleans saves money they'll listen.

Good points. Daniels would be good insurance and Boston gets something out of Davis.. I think Davis will get a 2 year deal somewhere once Dyese and Gooden sign...

Uh, Danny tell you he doesn't "want" Posey's contract? Or is it you who doesn't want Posey's contract, because that would require all the people who were tickled pink at the resigning of Tony Allen and letting Posey walk to admit the truth?

That they were DEAD wrong, so wrong that the change wiped Paul Pierce out in the playoffs?

The Celtics told everyone when they rejected that sort of deal for Posey last season. Since then Posey's play and the price for a guy of his ability has declined. Plus they're planning on *trying for* a big move next off season and a deal like his would screw that up.

Bass's agent has already said he will accept less than the full MLE. Bass has a similar background to Davis (2nd round PF) and has put up much better numbers, so my guess is that will more or less put a high end on Davis' possible salary.

Once guys like McDyess, Bass, Gooden and Gortat get signed teams will start looking to Davis.

Yeah, because having Posey last season would have kept KG healthy.

seriously, the posey jockstraps have to give it up. he would not have made a difference last year. we still would not have won a title. just give it up already.

Who knows how things would have turned out if we had Posey. He seemed to play power forward effectively when we went small. At least he would have had some much needed length. I think we could have beaten Orlando at least. Afterall we went to game 7 with them.

What about a sign and trade with the Hornets using BBD and returning us Posey?

Return to Boston Celtics
