swift, hudson, giddens, walker and pruitt all come to camp. lofton is intriguing but where does he play? You already have the same player in eddie. Lofton was definitely brought in as insurance in case eddie left so unless danny trades edddie there's no room for lofton. rogers and karl are both intriguing but I don't think they get invites unless we make a 3 for 1 trade and have some roster spots to fill. tony allen already does what karl does and we have scal ahead of rogers. fazekas to me is not an nba player. he's slow and flat footed. he can shoot the open three but that's about it

If Walker could play with two shooters in the frontcourt I think he could post many threes down low, where Giddens looks good taking the ball to the hoop. If one of them develops a more consistant jumper they will get the leg up.
FWIW, that's exactly what Danny's quoted saying in the Globe this morning.
Danny preparing the fans for a let down??? No FA SF signing I feel
That could be, and/or he doesn't want to appear too desperate in his negotiations or as if he doesn't value his own young-player chits.

swift is this years pOB. You need another center on the squad and this is the guy for this year. he'll get a 1 year deal at the minimum.I think Hudson makes the team because we need more shooters and he's a shooter. rogers might have a chance for the same reason but danny won't go with 2 rookies plus giddens and walker this is a veteran squad and IMO this is the year you try to win it. Hill would have been a great fit but barnes or moon if we can land them would be great as well. the guy I thought we missed theboat on was kapono. Philly got him for evans and I think we cold have sent leon powe and scal or some package like tht and gotten him. we need a 3 point shooter with some size ( wallace wil help for sure). Barnes,Moon or CJ miles can all play that spot. walker and giddens both have failed to demonstrate that they can hit the outside shot. Giddens clearly is the better shooter but he seems reluctant to shoot for some reason. I think he was trying to show that he's team guy but he may have taken that to an extreme.

Rogers was the only one who actually impressed me, but there is no place for him here. Nobody else really seemed like they could either fit here.
Fazekas is certainly talented but he is too far away athletically. He can have a nice career in Europe though.
Lofton will find a place with his shooting, it just will not be by taking Eddie House's place.
Pruitt has not made the grade. It is clear we need another point guard, and I would like to see the Celts move him elsewhere.
Swift is awful. I frankly do not see what Ainge likes about him other than his size. With the Wallace acquisition there is no point to having him here.
Hudson should get a chance but he needs seasoning somewhere where he can play. D-League may be an option.
Sweetney was pointless to bring in. 2003 draft picks should not be playing in summer league.
A little disappointed with Giddens/Walker. I know they were working on specific things. But in a summer league with very little NBA talent, they should be dominating. Walker seems be a little farther along. Giddens still runs around with a recklessness that shows he does not know what he is doing out there.

Rogers had the most well-rounded game of anybody. He showed atheticism, smarts, a nice J, nice rebounding ability, decent touch around the rim and good defensive potential (his two blocks on Hibbert were fun.) If Baby leaves, he could be a nice partially guaranteed guy to get spot minutes at the 4.
I wish we could combine Walker and Giddens. Walker's a much smarter player. He knows his game, his role and most of his strengths. He doesn't take up 10 seconds with spastic jab steps and pump fakes before making a move. He makes the simple play more often than not. His power dunking is also a legit skill. If he can hit a 3 and finish plays off penetration, he could be a nice scoring boost off the bench. Unfortunately, he doesn't yet make a big impact on the boards or on defense (other than hard fouls).
Giddens does make a defensive impact: he hustles for boards, deflects passes and flies around contesting shots. There's just little polish or control to his game.
Pruitt needs to improve his shooting. His defense is pretty good, his ballhandling is pretty good and his court vision is OK, but if he can't hit a shot consistently, he's not worth keeping.
I concur with general consensus that Fazekas is too slow to survive defensively, which is a shame because he has a lot of skill and can rebound. Swift was just as slow and less skilled. Sadly, POB is better than Swift at this point.
