So the future

Post#1 » by Andre- » Fri Jul 17, 2009 3:15 pm

By putting this into a simple manner,

Rondo+Perk as the core role players.

KG+PP+RayRay will expire , sign one or two of them for low low contracts and play them as roleplayers off the bench. ( all at 35-36 years of age by then )

And then we have around 50m of cap space to sign new players/build up a team.

To me it seems simple but I know there's a lot of complexity behind this.

Has anyone even thought of the future scenarios after the Big 3 is done?

I sure have, wanting to know what are your opinions, don't be shy to post.

Come on Danny, you can't just sign up and post on RealGM, you have to figure this out on your own

No seriously, what do you guys think?
Will we make early moves and deal the contracts away in 010 when the market rapefest begins to land some superstar to build around?

Or solely wait till the contracts expire and we can start using that cap.

There will be no cap space in the near future. Danny will continue to build this team through trades/fa signings. How he does that and who he targets remains to be seen, but I think he has a solid plan in mind, and I'll trust that.

That's the ideal strategy, but I think there comes a point when KG/PP are in the twighlight of there careers and the team is struggling (I mean consistantly coming up 3rd,4th, 5th in the east with some 1st / 2nd round exits) that you have to scrap it. Blow it up, start over and orchestrate another brilliant 4 year plan like Ainge began in 2003. Hey it worked, and our roster won't be as horrible.

Remember when Ainge took over then? We literally had NO assets outside Pierce and Toine (if you even wanted to call Toine an asset). NONE.

We have to continue to draft well and stockpile picks.
Then our big guns will be expiring contracts that we can package to bring in the next round of superstars.
It will probably take a couple of down years. Maybe one year where everyone gets injured and we will like 25 games, and get a really high pick, and then flip it for some in-their-prime superstar who's unhappy.

And what will happen with the 50-60m that KG/PP/RA leave over?

Take away 10m of that for salary raises of Rondo/Perk

Still gonna be around 40-50m to use.
I think we're gonna go for big names whenever we dump a part of the big 3. Role players at least.
Our position seems okay and I'm pretty sure players are willing to play for Boston.
