Maybe we should wait with packaging TA and Scal. I think we can get better offers at the trading deadline.

Scal is literally a overpaid(3mil) cheerleader.
Apparently you didn't watch any playoff games this past year. You must've not been interested with KG not being there and all.

This is what I'm thinking as well. Some combination at the deadline of Scal, Tony, Gabe, JR, and Billy W. The players that fall in this range from other teams are:
Kirk Hinrick
Stephen Jackson
Shane Battier
Jeff Foster
Andres Nocioni
Nick Collison
Martell Webster
Rudy Fernendez
Jerad Bayless
Just to name a few. I can see any of these guys shipped out at the trade deadline for expirings if their respective teams are out of the playoffs.

As it stands at the moment I think that they're safe. Ainge will likely be content with adding Wallace and Hill, and possibly look at a 3rd string PG at the minimum like Lue.
With those guys you have a solidly 7 1/2 man rotation (Rondo, Ray, Pierce, KG, Perk, Sheed, Hill, and House as the 1/2). I say that about House because he's really more of a situational type guy. Then you have Tony, JR, and Billy Walker battling it our for the 4th SG-SF spot.
Scal and a minimum PF-C will battle it out for the 4-5th spots in the front court, with Davis likely being gone.
That's a better rotation than you've had in the last two seasons and you have a good compliment of youth and veterans, especially if Walker or Giddens can crack the rotation.
Then if the team has any real serious needs that are apparent THEN you look to deal TA and/or Scal to fill a hole. That's seems very much like an Ainge type strategy of addressing bench needs. Let the holes in the roster show themselves over the course of half a season and then try to plug them up.

No ****...Scal was very valuable both before his head injuries, and during the playoffs...he is what he is, but he was very good for us.
TA on the otherhand is an overpaid (Please Use More Appropriate Word) taking up bench space and a roster spot from someone who actually has a functioning brain and basic knowledge of basketball...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Very good? LMAO. I think the bar has been set so low for the redhead that anything short of total suckitude gets pumped up as good. The guy can't rebound, and can't jump - all he can do is hit some Js.

...and play reasonably solid perimeter defense on mobile PF's, at least in my opinion.

I take Hinrich in a heart beat. He'd be a great fit here.
Stephen Jackson I like a lot, but his contract is a bad one, IMO. Too many years, too much money for a bench player. Hinrich has one of those deals which goes down with time, SJ's goes up.
Who couldn't use Jeff Foster, but he doesn't want to leave Indy.
Nocioni - health scares me a bit. Contract isn't that great
Collison - I wonder about how effective he would really be.
Webster - Health concerns again, but very talented. Might be worth it
Rudy - Man, too bad Danny didn't just buy Rondo's pick from the Suns, because the Suns sold it off the one we traded to Portland, who used it on Rudy. Would be a good fit here.
Bayless - Don't really see them letting him go
Honestly, these guys all have value, so I doubt that their teams would trade them for a bag of balls. Too bad they aren't all on teh Grizzlies, eh?

Mind-boggling, isn't it? The guy has had six years and he's proven conclusively that he cannot engage his brain well enough to be a competent NBA player.
Get him out of town now, Danny. I don't care what you get in return.

if danny can find a home for scal, tony and pruitt then they're gone. we need a 3 for 1 deal. Grant HIll is a power forward???? when did that happen? He certainly won't be one with the celts. somebody like tony battie would be a nice addition if NJ was willing to move him. Orlando needs players since half their roster is gone. Maybe we could deal tony scal and pruitt there fore someone??

Considering Scal's has zero value, he's safe. If you add House to TA, some team will give up something, but that depends on Marbury resigning.

If either Walker or Giddens shows something in summer league play. This will be more reason to suspect that Tony's role will be lessen.
Personally, I would much rather have Barnes who I believe Ainge could really go out and get. This as oppose to relying on Tony to reemerge.

I reckon this confirms that at least one of them is on the move. I knew it... Guessing Tony was too easy.
I would still prefer it if another power forward is signed, I assume it'll be Davis. But I'm open to Gooden or Diogu.

Daniels is expected to sign with the Celtics in one of two ways - either for the $1.9 million biannual exception, or in a sign-and-trade deal with Indiana. The Celtics and Pacers are still hashing out those details.
The source added that a sign-and-trade deal - with the Celtics able to offer a number of players with expiring contracts, including Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine - is still a very real possibility.
