Backup point

Post#1 » by Papa Irish31 » Sun Jul 19, 2009 10:43 pm

who would everyone like to see backing up rondo next year?

if it was me i would just go with pruitt and see what the kids got, playing him regularly where he doesn't have to worry about his minutes, id much rather see that then have to watch tyrone lue play for the celtics

if not gabe i would really like to see what lester has if given the chance but that wont happen so other guys i wouldnt mind would be bobby jackson, royal ivey or trying to get denier in the s&t with the pacers

wouldn't mind seeing what pruitt can give us; not like he's going to be playing major minutes behind rondo. in regards to lester, i think he's missed his oppurtunity on this team due to the broken finger. personally, id like to see marbury backing up rondo if we could work out the minutes.
bench:
Marbury/House/Daniels/BBD/Sheed
Very unlikely but that would be extremely solid in terms of both offense and defense. :D

I think we should cut bait on Pruitt. If we are talking about guys who missed their window - he should be the guy we think off. He has had years here and hasn't done jack. I'd rather see Hudson get a shot now.

That being said Hudson would be a project guy. We also need a over the hill vet who can play emergency PG. Someone like Lue or Carter..

Am the only one who thinks a back-up PG is no biggie?

Honestly, Rondo can play mega minutes and we have House who can fill in while Rondo's resting ... I mean, we definitely can go into next season with House being the back-up PG.

Or Pruitt? Seriously guys Royal Ivey/Tyronn Lue SUCK and Marbury wants more $, lets just stick with Pru unless we can get a gem like TJ Ford.

Danny might pick up a guy who acts as a third PG - with Daniels and House generally getting the minutes. though even then I would like to get someone who can hit the J.

Marbury... but if we could get TJ Ford through a deal with Marquis Daniels just giving up our expirings I would definitely want him as our backup pg... and I don't think that if we get TJ that means we will be tradiing Rondo because Rondo is the future of our franchise and TJ Ford did play some backup point to Jarret Jack last year... So I definitely would love to have Ford if we could get him but if not I would also love to re-sign Marbury.

i'd rather prioritize a tall sf who can shoot and defend instead of a pg at this point. marquis and eddie in the backcourt is as good as it gets.

Marguis is going to be the backup to Paul and Ray not the backup pg.

I don't want Pruitt as the backup, we need a veteran. I don't care if we have to trade for one, rape, pillage or kill.

The Celtics could use another shooter off the bench, and the team has enough veterans. No need to be picky. Someone who knows how to protect the ball and shoot the three. And of course, cheap.

I wonder if Mike James is going to be waived by the Wizards. They seem like they have guards up the ass.

I was looking a the FA points that are out there: Juan Dixon, Bobby Jackson, Royal Ivey, Tyronne Lue, Luther Head, CJ Watson, Lindsey Hunter.

Of those, Watson is the best and he is not much if any of an improvement over House. They are different player so don't give me Watson greats better. Yes, he does, House protects the ball better and of course shoots better.

A lot of this depends on what happens with Daniels. If it is a S&T Pruitt could be gone. If not I think Danny could be done until the deadline, other than house cleaning like matching Baby or signing R. Swift.

We should do backup PG by committee (Pruitt, House, Hudson, Daniels) and see if any creme rises to the top. If not, then pick up a vet at the all star break via free agency or trade.

This.

If people really care about who's bringing it up the floor just let Ray or Paul do it when Rondo is out.
