OT: Barnes to Magic

Posey wasn't a marginal player. Barnes is.

You guys already have a Posey-type player in Pietrus, who's pretty good. But Barnes didn't improve you much. That's the point.

How is Barnes a marginal player, he's averaged 10 ppg twice, something Posey hasn't done in the last few years, is Posey better on D? Barnes numbers as a starter last year were solid all around, my general point is you need good role players, stars don't win alone.

Not to troll or anything, but I humbly disagree with you. Barnes is a lights out shooter, and a pesky defender. He will find his PT at SF. Do I think it puts us ahead of you guys? Nope, you guys still have that edge over us. But I do think it's a step forward.

if that's "lights out", i think something's wrong with your lights.

i love how people talk about defenders as "pesky". that's equivalent of a girl with a nice personality. it means they suck but they try. we talk about eddie house the same way, pesky. too bad Barnes had one of the worst opponent's PERs in the league, so a calcified Grant Hill actually had to defend the opponent's best wing every night. i guess he wasn't pesky enough.

He's the David Eckstein of defenders, clearly. GRITTY PLAYER!

barnes has been a scrub since he finally made an nba roster, and always will be.

but it doesn't matter, it's like argueing how is the better 13-14th guy on our roster. barring huge injuries, they just arnt going to play, same with barnes on the magic.

Can you sound like anymore of a homer? All teams are tying to sign talent that will give them depth and make them better. You sound like a bitter lil baby, I bet you wanted Barnes to sign with your team. Personally I like what you guys did this offseason, can't you grow up and respect other teams that are actually trying to win unlike the rest of the league.

Jesus, relax. What board are we on again? THE CELTICS BOARD. Obviously I am going to think mostly anything we do this offseason is going to put us over the top, just like I'm sure you think the same about your own team. Where have I said anything to sound like a "bitter lil baby" as you so intelligently stated? The fact is, I actually like your team probably more than most as a Celtics fan and all I was trying to say is IMO Pietrus is much better than Barnes and any minutes Barnes is getting really should just go to Pietrus. I don't know your team as well as you obviously, but that's all I was stating because once again, IMO, a bench like this:

CJ Watson backing up Jameer.
Pietrus backing up VC/Shard
Gortat backing up Dwight (assuming Bass starts) and also allowing Dwight to move to his actual natural position PF for a few minutes. Also Shard can swing up and play some PF like last year as well.

Dwight 28 / Gortat 20
Bass 32 / Dwight 8 / Shard 8
Shard 28 / Pietrus 20
VC 36 / Pietrus 12
Jameer / Watson

Pietrus playing 30 minutes or so a night seems better to me rather than:

Dwight 36 / Gortat 12
Bass 32 / Shard 16
Shard 20 / Barnes 28
VC 36 / Pietrus 12
Jameer / Watson

Pietrus would be extremely under-utilized IMO, Gortat would see a loss of minutes as well. Having a deeper rotation is not necessarily as good as a shorter rotation with a deeper bench. That is all I was saying. Sorry if I came off a lil baby, but please try to understand where a C's fan is coming from on a C's message board.
