Daniels didn't play any PG for Indy, but he did in Dallas where he played next to Terry, who is very comparable to House. Daniels was very successful doing this in the half court sets for Dallas. Here he will used much like Ray last year when Rondo was on the bench, where Ray handled the ball quite a bit with the reserves facilitating the offense. What we need is a guy who can be the 3rd PG, but can step in and start if Rondo gets injured. It has to be a guy who won't complain about it either. That is why I believe Lue will be signed, or someone like Lue.

He did play PG for Indy, but I could see why you could think he didn't. When he was at point, we all thought he was doing a performance art piece imitating **** stacked 6'6" high.

He's not going to facilitate any offense that's successful.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

First thing I thought of when I saw the thread title.

You REALLY don't want Daniels initiating ANY offense at any time. Hell, Travis Diener would be right up your alley if you're just looking for a 3rd PG/very rare starter who distributes, can hit the 3, and won't turn the ball over, but I don't think you'd be willing to offer anything of value for him.

Daniels is really a solid backup swingman who can get to the bucket, and play some defense. That's really his role.

The Celtics offense when Rondo is on the bench is based on ball movement. The two things Daniels will be counted on is helping House bring up the ball and like you said, drive to the basket and facilitate his offense from there. He won't be a guy who pounds the basketball on the court, but being on the court with House, Davis, Sheed, and either Ray or Pierce, he can use his drives to kick out if he can't get to the basket. These other guys can hit the outside shot, so his handles will be important to the offense in the sense of a PG.

That's not gonna work for you. Anything in the sense of a PG is just not gonna come from Daniels. He can get to the hoop. He's barely passable at driving and dishing. Once he gets in, he's all the way to the hoop and not looking to pass.

The Celtics won a championship with Eddie House, a fake PG, as their backup point ... Marquis Daniels is much more of a tradional PG than Eddie house ... even though I realize that's not really saying all that much.
