Bird was the best pressure 3pt shooter I can remember seeing, doesn't seem like he ever missed with the game on the line. Allen's probably the best pure shooter of the three but Miller had some pretty memorable 3 pointers (2 in the last 8 secs against the Knicks in 95 playoffs), tough call between those two.
And don't forget about Sasha, easily the best practice 3 point shooter ever.

Remember that they moved the 3 pt line up for a few seasons (1994-95, 1995-96 and 1996-97?) where you see some pretty inflated %'s.

I have to go with Ray since he only benefitted from 1 of those years vs. 3 for Miller and it would probably have only boosted Bird up another 1%.
Although I would vote for Kerr as the all time best.

If you base it on someone's career then it clearly is Ray. That said during Bird's prime he was pretty awesome. And beyond that this list is missing a couple of guys, that were much better than Bird and were not simply specialists like Kapono or Kerr. The guy with the biggest beef would be Steve Nash, and two others would be Dana Barros and Dale Ellis even Brent Barry.
The thing with Dale Ellis is that his career includes the years of the shortened line; his best 3PT% came with the shortened line, which included his third-best season and his fifth-best. So three of his 5 best shooting seasons came with a shorter line, making them invalid for use in the comparison.
You could make a case for Nash but Allen and Miller are known for their three point shooting seeing as how they attempted thousands more than he did and managed to still do it on a consistent/efficient basis.
Id go with Allen, especially when he passes Miller on the all time three point makes list.
You could not be any more wrong about this. Dale Ellis was passed his prime when the moved the line in and he actually responded to them moving the line back to the original distance by shooting 46% and leading the league at 37 years old. You are totally wrong about his best seasons at least % wise.

Reggie's prime was with the line moved in and it included his 2nd best % season, his best was when they moved the line back.
How is Miller or Ray being known for it make them better than Steve Nash? They take more attempts per game that is legit.

Mitch just wasn't that great a 3pt shooter, he was not a big attempts guy or a high percentage guy.
Glen Rice is the definition of being a product of the line being moved in. He took 5 a game with the line moved in and shot 47% one season but is his numbers (attempts/FG%) were clearly lower with the line moved back. To be fair his prime was during those 3 years.

Ya you got a good point about G.R but you still have to give him credit since he actually had simliar % both before and after they moved the line, except you are right, his% did go up in those 3 years after they moved the 3point line. But he really hit rock bottom after he left LA. Still clutch though when it had to count.

Re: Best Three Point Shooter of All Time: Bird, Allen or Miller?
In a bit of irony, I bet that Glen Rice was the best 3pt shooter with the line moved in, as it did not really benefit the other great shooters as much or land right in the middle of the year prime years.
