Doc says meniscus tear for Bill Walker and he'll have surgery within a week. Expected out at least 6-8 weeks.

That is disappointing. I was hoping Bill would be good for spot minutes and the 10th man spot. I guess we have to hope Giddens and/or Hudson beat out TA for those minutes then.

Tough break. I was hoping he'd step up this year.

well the only reason he fell to 47 was that he was a health risk.

6-8 weeks is A LOT better than 6-8 months. Still disappointing but I was fearing much worse. Bill is tough, he will work his a$$ off getting back out there. He aint no TA.

c'mon guys get real. this is the 3rd knee surgery on the same knee and while a meniscus is not the same as an acl it's still a serious injury. Even if he comes back in 8 weeks then what? More than likely he gets injured again and in the meantime the team willhave moved on. He is this year's leon powe. It's unfortunate but those are the breaks. TIme to move on

Move on to where? Fact is, Bill only misses 1 month of the season, during a time in which he wasn't expected to be a part of the rotation. This isn't a big deal and hasn't changed anything--sure, it's a setback for Billy, but even best case scenario he was only the 10th man. Bill's still on schedule to start getting meaningful minutes in Jan./Feb. just like he was prior to his injury. TA has always had the inside track to the 10th man spot and until he's moved, Walker was on the outside looking in.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

Too bad for Walker...but he wasn`t getting minutes anyway, so it is not a big deal for the team...

I think it more opens the door for Giddens.

I don't know why people think that Tony Allen didn't have the inside track to begin with. For all his warts Tony is still a very effective defensive player, a veteran, and someone who can score at the NBA level. Giddens and Walker are completely unproven and were far from standouts in Summer League. IMO, the tenth spot in the rotation has always been Tony's job to lose unless Giddens or Walker came in with a real consistent three point shot and a balanced floor game... I don't think that has happened.

Well that sucks but I am not sure he was going to play much anyway.

Allen on the other hand will not go away. He is always getting surgery done in the offseason yet somehow he always shows up at training can ready to dribble the ball off his foot, take horrible shots and go for every head fake.
Reggie stood out like a sore thumb no tattoos no agenda no chirping nothing Just a guy who could score at will He played college ball at Northeastern he replaced Larry as Celtics captain he belonged to Boston.
And I still miss him. Even now.

A 6-8 week return timetable means that he has a 4-6 week estimated recovery time before a 2 week team eval/clearance to play.

This is a setback, but far from a season-altering injury for Walker - same injury he had before the draft, but on the other knee...it was 6 years between ACL's and no re-occuring problems with the left leg so far, so i am optimistic despite the circumstance.

Walker's absence will clear up the PT situation for the healthy guys come pre-season and he'll be back in practice by December - no reason that his hard-work this off-season should be scuttled because of this set back.

Walker has had his share of injuries since his first at 15 years old, but he has always recovered very quickly from them - a testament to his youth and the strength of his own bodies recovery ability.

If Walker has improved his game this summer, he'll get his shot to crack the rotation before the year is through....TA and Scal are pure trade fodder at this point, the team will move them at the deadline for whatever key addition they see fit...Walker, Giddens, and Hudson are the new recruits and Walker still has cards to play yet.

Don't count him out...

Settle down fellas, Its not like this was a top 10 player on our team...

As for Walker, this is tough....you just cant keep getting injured this young...when you're not that good yet.......he may be back in 6-8, but wont be playing in the rotation....I just dont see Doc altering the rotation and making room for the guy once hes back if things are going well....like Pruitt, there is some potential there, but this team needs guys who will win now, and unless the situation is just right, its goingto be tough to get minutes for a player like Walker...

I hate to wish bad karma on anyone, however, had this happend to Giddons or TA, the situation for Walker to step in and play, may have opened the door for him to stick and earn another contract next season....This current injury is setting himself up to be gone...
