We are the team to beat. Pierce has no right to say that ish. He won't be dominating Luke Walton or Vlad Rad - he'll be playing Artest or Kobe everytime we play you guys. You guys can't use Ariza's man to double or triple Kobe no more or Artest will burn you.

As far as Sheed and KG, they are both perimeter players now. KG even moreso because he'll probably be afraid to bang now that he has hurt himself. Sheed? Looked like a bum against Cleveland's 2nd string center (Big Z), yet you guys threw the MLE at him? I would have picked up Antonio McDyess instead of some 3pt happy shooting "PF/C." Unless you guys have some sort of inside game, it's over. Again we have 2 7-footers that are agile and waiting to swat whoever gets by Kobe and Artest on the perimeter. I'll even bet that Shannon Brown (yes, Shannon Brown) unseats Fish as the starter making us have 5 players in our starting lineup capable of playing good defense.

I'll admit - I was pissed with the 2008 Finals results - esp. losing to the Celtics. I would have rather us lose to UNC or Duke rather than the Celtics. We've grown from it. We've taken our lumps from the media as well as Celtic fans everywhere. It's our turn and our championship window is about 4 or 5 more years.

I can't wait until we exact some revenge on the Celtics. You best believe the best player in the game (Kobe not LBJ or PP) hasn't forgotten. Neither has the GOAT of coaches (I think he wore a purple and gold X on his hat).

You're just filled with absolute bitterness. Pierce can say whatever he wants, nobody cares if you agree with it or not. Go back and watch the KG foul and you'll see it was a horrible miscall. Every single one of you're assumptions, and that's what they are, have absolutely no legitimate justification. You're just an upset Kobe fanboy trolling and ultimately showing your own insecurities. We'd all be worried if we had to face a healthy Boston squad in the finals. :D

That's weird, I don't recall Red Auerbach wearing a purple and gold hat... :-?

I had to hear the Lakers were not tough, Boston this, Boston that. So of course I'm ticked. PP started talking ish that he can't back up. Before Ray Allen and KG (gift from Lurch) showed up, he never talked this kind of trash.

Actually Pierce did talk trash before KG and Ray got here. It's part of his personality, as it is with a lot of players. But then he won a championship and was MVP. Ergo he has some nice backed-up trash talking going on.

You guys haven't won't jack in 20 years, then y'all finally win and now you have the right to talk trash and disrespect your opponents? In 2007 you guys were chanting MVP for Kobe at the FT line in the Garden.

Who said anything about disrespect? These guys do this all the time, within the team and throughout the league. Competitive breast-beating. But then most of them are actually multimillionaire family men at this point, probably text each other after the games. The players don't have the animosity towards each other that they used to it seems. There's no reason for fans to get all bent out of shape about these type of comments. Personally I wish there were more of this going on-- it sparks and seasons the game. When all is said and done the players share agents, know they could be traded to an 'enemy camp' at any moment, and are complicit in protecting the high standard of living that the players can all enjoy.

As for the Kobe Lovefest, I'm glad I was not at that game in Boston, nor the one in NY where the fans encouraged Kobe on to break the scoring record. It's all part of the "Look at me! I was there!" mentality of the day. I much prefer the heavily partisan and slightly irrational stand-by-your-team approach. I mean, it's supposed to be sort of tribal, right? Otherwise why have different teams? But it seems more like a popularity contest at times.
Well said. I'll tone it down. You make very good points. I just feel like if you win, you should do so with class. We won it all and not one of the Lakers have gone out of their way to diss any team (at least I haven't read anything on the net). The Celtics are a good team - I'll admit it, but y'all are going down again this year.
