You have to be kidding, You post that "KG is borderline trade bait" and then whine because Pete thinks that is ridiculous. Your defense is that if you have a big expiring contract your might get traded which is fine for Ray but Garnett has a huge contract with 3 more years on it.

Feel free to bring this all up if we are .500 at the halfway mark but if you think threads and posts about breaking up this team on the brink of a season that people expect a championship are going to get a lot of support you mistaken.

listen sully and pete drop it... I'll quote it for ya sense you guys are determined to link me up to wolves "Rebuild now complete lunacy four to five years down the line maybe"....
I'm sworry fo whiney time, now grow up jack and put your big boy pants on and learn what agreeing is and isn't. For christ's sake man I'M SAYING ITS NOT REBUILD TIME. AND YES I LIKE RONDO MORE THAN YOU GUYS DO! LEAVE IT AT THAT.

Rebuilding is for loser franchises. The good teams just reload like the Lakers did. If the C's don't sign Rondo or Ray Allen then Danny will make sure we get big time players like Joe Johnson and Brandon Jennings (another skinny PG who went to Oak Hill) for them.

So relax..

Pete

How will Ainge make sure we get a guy like Joe Johnson?

The only way is to trade KG or Pierce. We have no other assets that come close to the value of a Joe Johnson. [Once Ray and Rondo are gone.]

We are effectively out of the free agent Market until KG's contract is done. Thats in 2012.
[See my earlier postings in this string to better understand our financial situation.]

If we lose Rondo and Ray, we have no way to replace them unless we trade KG or Pierce.

To me thats rebuilding.

@Wolves2011

To me, your posts are full of panic. And panic is bad for a healthy discussion. Ray and Rondo won't leave Boston without compensation. Besides that, I'm pretty confident that they'll both stay in green. Rondo will get 5/50 and Ray around 3/22.

Go back to the Minny board Wolves!

Hey if all our players retire after this season we will need to rebuild!

The chances of us losing both Ray and Rondo are very small. I'm but it at less than a 10% chance, yet you base al your thinking on a less than 10% chance.

No one is more disturbed at all of this Pete and I agreeing than myself.

I never referenced wolves in my post I talked about what you wrote. If you didn't mean to say that "KG was trade bait" then perhaps take it back instead of stomping your feet and saying dumb ****. If you don't want me to respond to your posts, well I can't make any promises, but a good start would be if you stop quoting me.

Lame thread

Post#46 » by Luxurytaxlotterybust » Fri Oct 16, 2009 3:53 pm

haven't visited here in a bit. But this has to be one the lamest threads ever.

I don't know about you but I am losing sleep over the Celtics 2nd round options in the 2017 draft. The talent currently in 5th grade is just weak and the foreign players aren't going to come ever since the The Hornets moved to Hamburg, Germany and Memphis moved to Madrid.

I've presented logical reasons for why Rondo and Ray ARE likely to leave.

Rondo wants more money than Ainge appears willing to give him. There is so much free agent money available in the summer of 2010, that Rondo IS likely to get his money from someone.

Ray wants a long term deal, he's said that in interviews. Ray has not discussed home town discounts. He has said he wants to stay, but wants a long term deal for good money. Ainge does want to tie up a lot of money in a player who will be 35 in the summer of 2010, especially in a long term deal. Ray will find someone desperate to win next summer who will give him his money.

I've provided logical reasons.

You have provided no logic behind your views, its hand waving.

I'm not panicking. I'm taking a hard nosed look at the situation and don't want to repeat the mistakes of the late 80's and 90's, holding on to a big 3, too long to help us turn around the franchise.

If you lose even one of the two; Rondo or Ray that player can't be replaced.

There is also a high probability that an older team like the Celtics or Spurs has injury problems.

We have three players we rely on for big minutes who are between 32 and 34 and a fourth who is a key reserve who is already 35.

Its not like cleveland relying on Shaq.

We have four guys like shaq.

The Lakers have Fischer.

We have four of them and thats not counting Eddie who is also 31.

I heard your reasons. Let's all take a deep breath and see how the season plays out.

Danny's on the case.
