This was an appropriate topic to discuss in the other 2 threads you created to try and say rondo deserves a ton of money and shouldn't have to sacrifice, please don't make any more for at least a month on the subject, thank you.~Managment

I know there are Chris Wallaces in the league but I just can`t see a GM give Rondo a max contract...they are not blind...

This thread is about

Financial SACRIFICE by the Big 3 and changing the Celtics financial circumstances.

I even said Ainge might not want to keep Rondo

[I would like to keep Rondo, but Ainge might not as many on this board might not if Rondo reaches free agency. Why? According to even NBA analyst I've seen quoted Rondo will be offered a max or near Max contract and Ainge probably won't match if he won't give Rondo $10 million now.]

As for cap holds, they are not my specialty.

I understood it to be the last amount of your contract or the value of the "option" on you. The option for for someone like Rondo is the qualifying offer.

But I could be wrong.

If someone KNOWS the correct answer, please tell us.

Pierce and Ray should be able to afford to take contracts for $1 million.

Ray will have made $149 million in salary alone after this season.

Pierce will have made $124 million in salary alone after this season.

It would certainly show commitment to winning another championship.

Do I expect it to happen, NO.

Is it possible, meaning is it within the rules, yes.

Do I want it to happen, yes.

By the way, I've been both a Celtics and a Wolves fan for a long time.

Let me also say that, I think Rondo is the 3rd best talent available in Free Agency next season after Lebron and Wade.

My evidence is "wins produced".....he is 3rd of all the players in any form of free agency.

[If the Celtics don't keep Rondo, would I like to see him in a Wolves uniform.... probably. I say probably because if Flynn plays at a very high level the wolves might be better off keeping Flynn for Cap purposes. Flynn was either the best or 2nd best rookie in summer league and he has played well in the pre-season.

But if Flynn has lots of growing pains, I'd try to get Rondo if I was the wolves GM and then trade the rights to Rubio and one of Flynn/Sessions. [I would NOT trade Rubio's right until we were closer to the time when he is coming over to the US, two years from now to maximize his trade value.]

As for the Celtics and Rubio, I've made clear that I want Danny to sign him now before the season starts for $10 million. That will be less than what we will have to pay to match next summer, if Ainge decides to match.

Again, I WANT THE CELTICS TO KEEP RONDO.

I'd much rather trade the Big 3 and keep Rondo, to start over and not get caught in a "late 80's situation again" then keep the Big 3 and lose Rondo.

Don't want to repeat the Celtics experience from late 80's to the present.

any more questions?

Paul Pierce would be a complete moron to take a 1 million dollar contract. This is a business and it's what he does for work. I know I'll never take a pay cut to help out who I work for...so why should he? He deserves to be paid what it is deemed fair to Pierce and the Boston Celtics.

Enough of this crap already, these threads are getting painful. Go back to Minnesota.

I became a Celtics fan after the Lakers deserted Minnesota... so I've been a Celtics fan, probably for longer than you have been alive.

I now also root for the Wolves as well, the "new" team in Minnesota.

And conveniently my favorite player from the wolves early days now plays for the Celtics.

can someone be banned for sheer annoyance and stupidity, even if they don't say anything blatantly offensive?

please at least merge all of Wolves's threads into one? there is basically only 1 point to all of them.

So you are really an adult?

Stop spamming the board which is what you are doing. You turning your agenda into the boards agenda.

You are also jumping all over a conversation that has been going on for months this isn't new material.

The Big 3's money has nothing to do with Rondo and what he gets paid. Nobody is talking about anyone making financial sacrifices except you. The sacrifices were on the court guys gave up shots and touches and in exchange worked harder on the defensive end. Rondo in many ways is a product of that system. Yes he is a great young player but he would not be the player he is without the cast he has. He would not be the same defender without Perk and KG and would not have the assist totals without Pierce, Allen, and Garnett. They aren't just great players they help maximize his game dead eye jump shooters and the best defensive fountcourt tandem in the league.

Now if Rondo wants his money now instead of next season he might have to take less that the most he is possibly worth simply because Boston has little motivation to do a deal with him now otherwise.

If Pierce opted out and took $1 million, along with Ray taking $1 million most of the Celtics financial problems would be solved.

Will it happen, probably NO

But if Pierce's goal was more rings, this is what would make it happen......

I am pretty sure the veteran league minimum for a player of Ray Allen or Paul Pierce's service time is greater than 1 million, somewhere in between 1.2 - 1.4 million maybe?

So, yeah, there is no way that either Pierce or Ray Ray will sign a 1 million dollar contract.

For the players of Ray Allen and Paul Pierce's superstar stature, they would be still commanding, at the very least, Full MLE type money well into their late 30's.

If we could sign either of the two for 9-10 million per year extensions, that would be considered "cheap" already.

And no, Rondo is not a "max contract" player.

So Pierce and Ray should stop making money for the good of the team, but Rondo should dig every last dollar out? You're out of your mind. I'm borderline positive that there is something wrong with you.

YES!!!

BIG TIME -------YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ray's life basketball earnings - SALARY ALONE - after this year $149 million

Pierces life basketball earnings - SALARY ALONE - after this year $124 million

Rondo's ----- about $6.5 million....

Ray and Pierce shouldn't need a penny more the rest of their lives.....

Rondo has made about 5% of what Ray has made......6% of what Pierce has made....

2% of what KG has made.....

So yes..... if they REALLY WANT TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS, take the veteran minimum [Pierce and Ray can next summer] and give Rondo his money.

LOL!!! If Pierce, Ray and KG were to all take paycuts, they better be getting someone better than Rajon Rondo. Lebron, Dwight Howard, Dwyane Wade would be guys that would ensure a championship. Rondo - he's good, but not that good.

Alright, enough of this nonsense. I'll be the bad guy. Wolves2011, stop making these stupid, agenda driven threads on the same topic. If you do, they will be locked and will be warned, then suspended, then banned. Get the drift? You are welcome, where ever you are from, to discuss the Celtics, but your Rondo threads are cluttering our board. Thank you.
