If you want to see him with consistent minutes, then he'd better acquit himself well from the start--because that's the way Doc works with the young guys.

If he can stay play solid, low-foul D, crash the defensive boards and knock down a few open Js, I think he can carve himself a nice little 15mpg role while Paul is out. The one thing Walker has had on Giddens in their NBA careers thus far is his relatively calm composure. He doesn't look overwhelmed or rushed, just raw. If he can keep his role simple and execute defensively, Doc will probably stick with him.

I'm pretty sure Doc doesn't want to roll Scal out at the 3 spot for extended minutes, as he's already stuck with him at the 4 given Shelden's inability to guard shooting bigs.

Gomes is back at practice after spraining his ankle. He was on a tear before, and had a 6-game streak where he averaged over 20 PPG. Young Vet, knows BOS and they know him, and particularly nice with Pierce missing a little time right now.

Gives you a roster spot too to add a vet min FA.

Well 90% of the posters on this board have advocated trading for Ryan Gomes,
the reason why the Wolves won't do it is obvious.

Let me brighten your day, and tell you Gomes is available for a late pick and a prospect.

Ryan Gomes has been great in MIN, and we love the guy. He always works hard, he does whatever any coach asks him to do, he has a versatile game and in my opinion, he's one of the Wolves most clutch performers. He signed for a very reasonable price as well, even without the extra shine he gives a team with a partially-guaranteed escape clause.

However, David Kahn continues to say that MIN will have $15-$20 mil in cap space this summer. Where's it coming from? He extended Corey Brewer, and he said just yesterday that he doesn't want to trade any new players until he's given them a full year to decide how they fit. With Rubio's summer cap hold, and some kind of hold for the picks, Kahn will struggle to get to $15 mil even with a trade of Gomes.

Now this is a good deal for someone. Cap space is very valuable in 2010, with a falling lux and teams with free agent dreams. Gomes is easily worth his $3.867 contract, but MIN would trade him for a prospect and a very late 1st because that money added onto the cap space they've already saved three years for, puts them in the market for a FA (for them, probably Rudy Gay).

Finally, don't worry too much about losing the SF. Gomes has been playing mostly PF for us this season while Love was out (Gomes just works hard enough to do it), and Corey Brewer has been playing a lot of SF. Even if our team suffers this year without Gomes, we're really not competing this year anyway, and we'll fill the SF spot next summer. Heck, we'll probably give Bill Walker some minutes if this trade went through.
