The Celtics took yesterday off after arriving in Los Angeles for tonight’s game against the Clippers. They will visit Golden State tomorrow and Phoenix Wednesday. Though Pierce could make the trip West on his own, it is “highly doubtful’’ he will do so, president of basketball
operations Danny Ainge said in a text message yesterday.

“The best guess’’ for Pierce’s return is after the Suns game, according to Ainge, who was scouting yesterday.

As long as he makes it before the Atlanta game we should be fine. I don't see us beating ATL without P though..so hopefully he comes back by then. No need to rush him though...

The Celtics are being cautious with forward Paul Pierce's right knee.

The captain had surgery for an infection in the knee earlier this week.

Boston president Danny Ainge said Pierce's return is not expected before the Celtics host Toronto on Jan. 2.

of course it is also written that he wanted to come with the team to Orlando
