The NJ Nets cut Sean Williams and then they sign Shawne Williams. How many Williams are there in the NBA? A better question might be how man people with the last name of Williams have ever played in the NBA. We need research- stat! Smith is the most common name in the English language ( supposedly) so I have to believe there have been a ton of Smith's in the NBA as well- maybe more than Williams, but if I were a betting man I would say that Williams takes the cake. Johnson has to be up there as well. Here are the ones I remember off the top of my head

OK, I could be wrong but I swear that when I was in HS, there was a rap out there about how many guys named Johnson were in the NBA at the time (Magic, Dennis, Gus . . . ). Somthing like "thirteen guys with the same last name, thirteen johnsons playing the game . . . "

It was a bit from an NBA Entertainment tape, dunno which. Also had a line like, "Thirteen Johnsons fillin the hoop, too many Johnsons spoiled the soup."

There were two Eddie Johnsons who played for the Sonics in the 80s and early 90s and one of them a few yrs ago got charged w/ kiddie porn or chester activity (the Eddie who also played for ATL). The more famous Eddie who wore 8 had to come out and tell the fans it wasn't him they were referring to.
