The 2011 draft
Do the Celtics have a first round pick in the 2011 NBA draft? I'd read once that they traded their pick to Denver for Leon Powe but I'd like to think Ainge is smarter than that.

I hope you're right. It wouldn't make much sense to give up a first round pick for a second round pick who has shown signs of being injury-prone in college. I'm not sure what sites would give this information though.

Re: The 2011 draft
the celtics dont owe any future draft picks at the moment; but they have 2cd round picks coming to them in 2014 and 15 if the kings are drafting outside the top 55
also i heard somewhere that the celtics are still owed a first round pick from the timberwolves from the wally for ricky deal; but they can only get it if the timberwolves dont finish in the top 10 this year, because the t wolves have to send a 1st rounder to the clippers for the cassell jaric swap, but that is top 10 protected. however if the t wolves finish in the top 10 draft spot again this year than the pick will defer to next year at least, meanig the celtics wouldnt receive a first rounder due to the fact that a team cant give up 1st rounders in two consecutive drafts, and no deal can take more than 7 years
anyone know whether this is true?

False (well, not completely but you have a few facts mixed up. Check out this site Transaction Database.)
The Celtics traded their own 2009 1st RD'er (#29, Wayne Ellington) and returned Minnesota's conditional 2009 1st RD'er (top 3-protected in 2009, top 2 in 2010, top 2 in 2011, unprotected in 2012; pick could only be conveyed two years after Minnesota's conditional 2006 1st RD'er was conveyed to LAC (top 10-protected through 2011, unprotected in 2012)) in the KG deal.
In all actuality, that Minnesota 1st RD'er we returned was likely never a 1st RD'er once they traded KG--whether that was to Boston or elsewhere. It would have likely reverted to a 2nd RD'er in 2012 because of the preexisting protections with the Clippership. The reason being is that 1st RD'ers can not be traded in consecutive seasons.
Hope that helps.
