I'd take Ellis if they are selling.

Maggette doesn't move without the ball.

He doesn't position himself to set up plays for teammates, or make teammates job easier.

Maggette doesn't act as a decoy.

His selfish play runs teamates the wrong way.

I was a big supporter of Maggette's his freshman year at Duke,
when Coach Dimwit K refused to integrate Maggette into the lineup during the regular season,
sticking with sh*tty Junior Chris Carrawell,
and it wound up costing Duke in the NCAA Championship game against Connecticutt,
when Maggette had not had the minutes during the regular season to
integrate into the offense, which Duke sorely needed, in that final game.

So, I was a Maggette supporter, but the ACC sucked so bad back then
that they named NBA bust Carrawell their Player of the Year the following season,
and the guy didn't even have a shot, despite being a wing player.

Anyway, Maggette is not the solution. The Celtics would have a hideous contract
with a chemistry killing on court demeanor. No pass Maggette.

The Celtics can do better. But they might have to add in a second round pick or cash
to pick someone up, maybe a First Rounder if they get Bird Rights for someone really good.

No defense, no passing, hollow stats. His entire game, on both ends of the floor, is totally dependent on being bailed out by the refs.

Guy is a career loser and always will be. It is said that Brand couldn't wait to get away from the guy.

Yeah he is special and so was AI. Look Maggette shooting 45% is a pain and the ass for sure but shooting 52% and a TS% of 63% (3rd in the NBA) is special. He doesn't really have 3pt range and he is putting an emphasis on what he does well. He rebounds well and he can flat out score. I know we want guys to have an all around game but Elton Brand is the same guy, except totally less effective now, and so is Al Jefferson and Carlos Boozer and people love those guys. Maggette just happens to play SF and not PF.

His contract sucks and he is somewhat of a sketchy team player and I have no idea if he would want to be in Boston but he scores 20 in 30 mpg and there aren't many of guys like that, we don't have anyone with his talent in the pipeline and we aren't getting any younger.

well, if boston is ok with not using the mle next season and ray comes back at around 7-8 per for 3 years.

then scal, gidd, walker, and ta for maggette works. we can then sign a min pg like lue and wait for a buyout player for more depth like battie.

nice guy to come in and say "score" off the bench. many times we don't have that now unless sheed really is posting up or eddie is hot from 3.

Golden States fans here. No need to discuss, you guys can have anyone except for AR, Curry and Morrow. If the rumors are true and Ellison buys our team, I believe 100% of the fans wouldn't care about ANYONE on our team rather than Ellison.

Now he may not like the contract but that is a whole different story.

Maybe ainge should learn from the clippers
and this http://www.ibabuzz.com/warriors/2009/02 ... ette-beef/

I am not necessarily in favor of Maggette (I could be swayed if Brandan Wright was involved and not Anthony Randolph, though.) That being said, those on-court things happen a lot, man. Pay close attention and watch/listen when Rondo, Pierce, Garnett or Perkins yell at Ray Allen when Ray doesn't cover the weakside in help, completely ignores open teammates off the dribble or drifts away from the ball on a pass (instead of coming to the ball.)

I do think Maggette was cut from the same cloth as Rick Davis/John Salmons, though. Talented individually at the offensive end of the floor but practically braindead when it comes to playing within a team concept. Good teammates have the ability to create within the flow of offense, imo. They don't need play after play in which they dictate everything that happens on the offensive side of the court.

so you are saying we should get him so we could suck now and for the next years, maybe we should extend him for couple more years, he will probaby kill us more in his 30s
NFL fans are now feeling what NBA fans been living for a while...

What I am saying is that Maggette has played for two teams that were terrible defensively with selfish teamates, and he was blamed. The reason it didn't work with him and Brand was he didn't defer to Brand, now Brand is in PHI with Iguadala and he is a total bust.

What I am saying is you don't trade for Al Jefferson and expect him to be Kevin Garnett. Corey Maggette isn't LeBron James or even Paul Pierce. Obviously I don't know the kid maybe his head is a mess but I see what Crawford looks like with teammates and in a winning situation. I get he has struggled "fitting in," but so have all of the other guys he has struggled fitting in with. Brand (11 down from a career of 15), Crawford (13), Stephen Jackson (18), Monta Ellis (22), when are any of these guys happy unless they are getting most of the shots? Those are attempts a game in parentheses Maggette is at 12 and a career of 11 per game. Eddie and TA are splitting 12 in Boston right now.

Perhaps he is what everyone says he is and there is no helping him, and maybe he is just been in suck situations and he hasn't been good enough to overcome them.

My plan would be to bring him here and use him off the bench, were he has played this season and been real good 16/5 in 25 mpg and just tell him to do what he does fill it up and kick it out to Sheed and House for 3's. Perhaps he moves into a starting role next year with Ray off the bench and If he can succeed then he inherits a great defensive big man and perhaps the premier pass first PG in the NBA. We have a guy who isn't LeBron or Wade or even Paul but he is capable of putting up 25 a game at a good clip as we prepare for the post big 3 era.

There are plenty of dudes on that squad that I'd be interested in. Maggette just isn't one of them.
