Hinrich is a thoroughly average starter, good backup...why would we trade away an above average starter for him?

Deng's looking decent again, I guess he's "untouchable" again from Chicago's standpoint.

I wonder, that would make the conversation worth while. 4 years 50 mil, add that to Hinrich's 2 years and 17 mil, if the Bulls are thinking about stealing the Knicks thunder by clearing the deck with some young talent and a guy like Ray Allen on board, that is the kind of godfather offer that may force Ainge and ownerships hand.

I think what Chicago wants to do is move Salmons and Hinrich and have enough cap space to keep Thomas and sign Joe Johnson. Bosh will probably either join Wade or LeBron...

Hinrich can probably be had for expiring contracts and a #1.

Don't see us getting Hinrich for expirings. Lakers are offering the same package and I have to think Chicago would rather move Kirk out of the division to a place where they'll only see him twice a year.

Ray and filler for Kirk and Deng is a no-brainer to me. I wouldn't even mind tossing in this year's first to make it happen (thats just me). I'd probably start Deng at the 3 and PP at the 2, and have Kirk come off the bench to back up the 1 and the 2. Just getting TA out of the 8 man rotation looks like a plus to me!!

Doubt if it happens, especially when Chicago wouldn't give up Deng and Gordon for Kobe a couple of years ago. Here are the very narrow conditions under which this could happen:

Another deal is in place to move Salmons (there is a rumored deal to Orlando for expirings) or Salmons has already promised to opt out of his contract.

The agents of 2 of the mega-free agents (Lebron, DWade, Joe Johnson, Bosh, Stoudamire, Boozer) have indicated a real interest in signing with Chicago if they can come up with the cash.

If that happened, the deal would essentially be:

Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh, and the 32nd pick in this years draft (OK, I'm reaching here)

for

Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich

I'm not including Ray or the filler since they'd have to be waived make FA signings work.
