Re: Doc Rivers interview
I am still not sure it was at anyone in particular, but one of the obvious things going on with this team right now that is not shall we saw real ubuntu is Eddie House's reality TV show with his kid and him openly campaigning to go to the 3 pt contest.

Regarding the TA short answer: some guys will get fat and happy with too much praise and Doc has realized throughout the years that TA is a guy you constantly have to keep on his toes. You don't want him too content with how he's playing because he can still get better. He is the same way with Rondo. He is hesitant to praise Rondo because he knows Rondo can still be a much better player. Rondo has no ceiling still.
Also, reading between the lines, I'd bet Ray is the one hurting ubuntu. "worrying about all star game" Who else could it be?
^see: Davis, Glen "Big Baby", both literally and figuratively "fat and happy"
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

LOL. He seems to be fat and happy sometimes, but other times he's the angry fat guy: cursing out fans, crying, and fighting friends.

sully00 wrote:^ To that point you only have 7 seconds you don't want to get stuck with Rondo being forced to take that jumper, if you have 5 other guys who want that shot. We are seeing signs of Rondo being able to knock shots down especially the corner 3 but right now he doesn't want it and the other team is playing too for 7 seconds they can force Rondo to beat them from 18 -20 feet or just put him on the line. Situations are unique and there are times when having Rondo on the floor makes sense and times when it doesn't.
Talk about a self-fulfilling and self-limiting prophecy. Rondo doesn't play because Rondo can't shoot a jumpshot. Hey genius, don't design a play where Rondo gets a jump shot then. He could have easily been the inbounder on that play, or maybe just maybe we could have tried to get to the rim and kicked it out if the layup wasn't there.
Rondo didn't play those last 7 seconds because Doc had it in his mind that a jump shot was the best way to win the game, even though we hadn't hit a jump shoot in a while (and specifically Ray Allen hadn't hit a jump shoot in about 47.5 minutes of game time). Here's a thought: maybe a jump shot attempt isn't our best play.
If I'm Doc Rivers, I would have inbounded the ball to Rondo, faked a handoff to Paul, and let Rondo spin to the basket. If he gets stopped, pass it to KG for a 15 footer.
The idea that the 5 on the court were the top 5 players we want to take a big shot is laughable. I'd take Rondo over Sheed or House ANY DAY. Rondo is the kind of player who likes to take big shots and he actually makes them.

Yeah. I really had almost changed my opinion of him after his stellar performance in the playoffs last year, but he reverted back to form, I guess
The worst thing that happened to him was winning a ring as a rookie...that, and playing so well and getting so much hype during last year's playoffs that he almost priced his way out of Boston...and now I bet the team wishes he had!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

What are you talking about? Now we have to draw up a play for the final 7 seconds of a game that incorporates a guy who is going to think pass and has was being played that way the whole game? Pierce is inbounding the ball because that is the easiest way to get him the ball you can't deny him the ball then, the point was to get Pierce one on one and if they double for him to find the open man. In that situation if Rondo gets the ball they are just going to leave him open standing there 18-20 ft from the hoop daring them to beat them like they did all game. They aren't going to let him get to the rim and if you handn't noticed they didn't let him get the rim the whole 4th quarter.

Meh--listen to what I'm saying. Paul inbounds the ball to Rondo, rubs off him, Rondo fakes it Paul, the two defenders follow Paul, and Rondo goes to rim and either makes the laup, gets fouled, or dishes it down to KG. That was the play to run. Get your best two players and design a play that plays on their normal tendencies.
