He would be my ideal off-season signing. While Battier is my ideal trade option this season.
I believe he has one year left with Olympiacos. Unfortunately, Atlanta still owns his rights and he might still want to resign with them unless he has soured on that notion. In my opinion, he's a younger and more versatile player than Daniels who'll be a free agent after this season. Furthermore, you could probably resign Tony for less than what it might cost you to resign Daniels, if you're Ainge. If Childress is an upgrade over Daniels, then he's more of your regular backup to Pierce than Daniels. Conversely, Daniels is more of a backup to Ray and somewhat to Rondo.
Heading overseas allows Childress to make more money than he could have as a restricted free agent in the United States. The Hawks had the right to match an offer from another NBA team, but not from an international club.
Agent Jim Tanner said Wednesday the three-year deal was worth about $20 million after taxes. The money is guaranteed, and Childress can opt out of the contract after each year.
The Hawks would retain Childress' NBA rights, and he would remain a restricted free agent, if they make a qualifying offer each year, Babby said. That would count against their salary cap, though. If they don't, he'd become an unrestricted free agent.

Childress, a 6-8 swingman who played for four years with the Atlanta Hawks before taking the unusual step of jumping to play in Greece's top pro league last season, had his agent nose around to see what interest there was domestically, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
But despite inquiries from Milwaukee and Charlotte -- Childress even visited the Bucks -- nothing panned out, the newspaper reported.
Childress, facing a Wednesday deadline to let Olympiakos know of next season's plans, knew the Greek team wanted him back, especially after he helped it get to the Euroleague final four and a berth in the Greek league championship series. In addition, he missed some of the season because of a hernia.

So these comments must have came during or after his first season with Olympiacos. Personally, I believe money is everything or else Childress would still be in the NBA.
Childress knew exactly what question was coming next, and was ready to answer it by the time the third word came out of my mouth.
“I don’t know what I will be doing this summer. It’s too early to decide.”
When asked what factors will play into his decision regarding whether or not to opt out of his contract and return to the NBA, a very solemn looking Childress offered few specifics.
“It will come down to personal feel. How I feel at the time.”
Regarding how much financial considerations will help decide that, Childress didn’t think they would be the main one:
“Money isn’t everything. I’m going to make a good living regardless. It will come down to personal preference. Money is money—it’s cool, but it’s not why I live my life.”
