Should KG sit out of All Star Game?

Post#1 » by tombattor » Mon Feb 8, 2010 3:33 pm

I know KG's supposed to be healed and is working his way back into shape, but if he's not 100%, which I don't think he is yet, should he sit out the all star game? I think he should still go to the game, do all the fan stuff, but not play in the game. And I know the ASG isn't usually that competitive, but if he sits out, he can rest the entire weekend, where as if he were to play, they probably have some practices and other things he'd need to participate in also. Besides, he's not exactly a deserving all star either. More of a popular fans' choice, like Iverson.

No. What KG needs is time on the court. Structurally his knee is sound. His issue right now is strength in the affected area. The only thing that will help him is actual game time minutes where his knee is being worked. You can already see little bits of progress in his lateral movement, there is no reason to slow this process down with rest.

Well I don't know much about injuries so I don't know whether in his case it's better or worse for him to sit out.

But he's part of the long time NBA brotherhood and there's no way he shouldn't at least go and hang out with the other All Stars, sit on the bench, and scream.

Its not like the games are the only time the guy plays basketball The ASG is probably not much more than playing a pick up game in practice. No big deal. If he is hurt than don't play but if he is hurt I doubt he would be playing for us right now.

If KG's injury isn't something that can improve by resting, then I guess there is no harm in playing in the ASG. However, he just doesn't seem 100% out there, so if rest could help, then I think it would be beneficial to sit out the exhibition game.

He definitely should; but he'll probaby put about 5x more effort into it than he does in real games, like he did last year.

None of the Celtics should bother with the pile of **** joke that is the All-Star game...it's meaningless aside from the honor, a waste of time and a wasted opportunity to rest
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

He should play. This might be the last time he's selected as an All-Star. There's no guarantee the fans will vote him in next year, and there's heck in no way he's going to be selected by the coaches. Yes, KG should definitely play.

Yup. You only go around once so you best enjoy the good times while you have them.. When you get up there you have these injuries that don't go away with rest and you have to play through. No doubt both KG and Pierce have those so the "rest" thing becomes overblown.

if every team took the fans advice no one would play in the all-star game because pretty much everyone needs 'rest" <g>
