I was... am... really high on him
Giving up Ante as well as the pick stings, odds are at least one is a 10+ year productive nba big, if not both

For some reason I knew Zizic would get traded before he played a minute of basketball for the Celtics in the regular season. Ainge is allergic to defensive bigs.

I really wish we hadn't included him in the trade.

I'm not equating Zizic with the Brooklyn pick, but Ainge should have at least been able to hold onto Zizic. C'mon - the Cavs had nothing close to what they got from the Celtics. What - the Cavs would have passed because of Zizic? No way

Have to give you credit for calling this. I join others in being mystified.

Re: Ante Zizic Appreciation Thread
I would have like to trade Yabs over him. But one of the greatest teams of all times starting C is Zaza Pachulia.
Hopefully, We still get a shot at Bagley, Ayton or Bamba with the Lakers pick.

Re: Ante Zizic Appreciation Thread
We should have kept Zizic and gave CLE the 2018 Lakers pick and our 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2026 picks instead. It's not everyday that a player named Zizic comes around.

Having thought about it, I'll guess that a lot of us weren't as impressed with Zizic as we hoped to be in summer league, and maybe Danny and/or Brad weren't either? It seems they'd rather have Semi guarding bigs than to work a lumber-er like Zizic into what they want to do offensively.
Definitely disappointed after buying fully into the Zizic hype train. Will need to transfer what's left to the Ojeleye Train.

Ainge is a savage. One bad game in summer league and you're GONE

Seems like a soft start in the summer league has people talking like Zizic s just a throw in to match salaries.I think people are now overlooking the kid, he'll never be a star but I really believe he'll be a starter by his second contract. Let's not forget he played ball almost all the past year and there's a adjustment period to the uptempo play. Let's hope Yabs turns into a player.

He looked better the more he played, looked a step behind everyone. I'd be surprised if Ainge was down on him after just some summerleague game, especially with he thin the center position is.

Cavs likely has offers from 12-18 teams. When they talk about the Cavs "striking out" on a deal for Kyrie to the Western Conference it's not because no one was offering significant packages, it's because the Cavs has extremely high expectations about what would motivate them to go through with a Kyrie trade vs bringing him back and trying to make it work.
IT and Bradley would have been bad investments at $20M+ with the Warriors still in prime mode and those guys both close to 30. Kyrie and Hayward are better players and better investments. Cornerstone stars. You just need Tatum of Brown to elevate to top30 level or to find a way to move Horford(a nice winning team role player) and acquire at least one more under 28 years old true top20 stars
All that said, as a Cavs fan, I hope Zicic is potentially as good/valuable as you think long term. IF LeBron stays and we can get legit contributions from Zicic at under $2M in years 3 and 4 of his deal, that would be huge.
As far as IT, besides the obvious hope that he's healthy by November, I'm curious what team would actually max him out. There are so many star PGs already on big deals and 5 PGs were taken in this years top10.
I think ITs deal ends up in the Jeff Teague/George Hill range, not a full max. And if he's healthy and the Cavs can get him for bw $18-22m for another 3-4 years, I think they'd jump on that(provided LeBron re-signs)

Danny's got to do something else up front now. I find this observation interesting:
