Re: Ray joins the Heat/Ray Allen appreciation thread
guess i somehow saw this coming, after the celtics game 7 loss, i put up new message on the erase board at work. "R.I.P Ray Allen's Ankles".
I'm not sure we will put up a video.

Ray was a great Celtic and I appreciate everything he helped us accomplish over the last 5 years. I'm gonna spend the night watching Ray Allen game winners and clutch shots (that apparently mean nothing to everyone in this thread now).
I still haven't forgiven him after he cost us a title.
Oh right, because KG getting abused by Gasol had nothing to do with it, and the Celtics offense going to **** in the 4th quarter meant nothing...it was all Ray's fault.

Add 1 more motivating factor for KG/Pierce/Rondo/everyone, allen thinks he has a better shot at a ring down in south beach, so lets beat them and prove him wrong.
This is the right attitude.

BFB,
Maybe I am missing something, but I don't consider Ray and all-time great Celtic. He spent 5 years here. He's more UConn and Connecticut than Celtics IMO.
I don't care about legacy or anything. I care about winning. This one hurts, because it hurts us winning. But, if we traded him to Memphis and then he signed with the Heat, would that be the same legacy stainer?
At 37, he can do what he wants. I am more pissed off at the roster hole, but, it does open up a starting SG slot.

But Parrish left the Celtics and joined Michael Jordan and the Bulls in 1995-96 and won a championship......

why ring chase? and why miami, the last team you faced in the playoffs?
why not give another team an edge they need and solidify a reputation as a championship piece, instead of being an after thought to a team that didn't need you to win in the first place?

Props to my girl Sami on that nickname. It was something she liked to say when Ray would attempt that random pass that was casually intercepted by the defense... that would leave you... just scratching your head.
So one cheer for Gay Allen everyone!
Thanks for the memories!
Really? Using "gay" as a synonym for "stupid"? Arent we as adults a bit past that kind of latent bigotry by now?

There never would've been a game seven if Ray Allen would've decided to have shown up after game two.

Yea, when Bird and McHale were long gone and the Celtics were winning 35 games a season. Not when they were in line for a potential championship.

Because he is a role player resigned to playing out the string. He wasn't happy here anymore, maybe it was trade talk, maybe it was Rondo, maybe he just didn't want any regrets when his career is over.

Re: Ray joins the Heat/Ray Allen appreciation thread
I'm going to say this
I don't like the Celtics, I never did and never will
I warned you not to listen to vinbaker6...but everyone called me a troll when he in reality was the troll
I think the way they handled the Ray thing was pathetic with trying to trade him then wanting him back (I also said that and apparently it was posted here)
However, the way this team battled for the last 5 years...you guys should be proud. 2009 if KG doesn't go down you win the title, and the Celtics were jobbed in 2010 by David Stern and Joey Crawford. So I guess this is an apology for any hard feelings...
Ray is joining us, but don't boo him after he gave you blood sweat and tears for 5 years...I'm sure it was a difficult decision for him. But that's all...no follow up posts from me just thought I'd clear the air and mend some fences...
In all sincere fashion good luck next year, I didn't think I'd actually be moved by this thread but I was

It doesn't matter what Allen did here. He just took a knife and stuck it in our backs. And I have been following him since he was at uconn
