FWIW I'd be willing to wager our interest in this guy dates to when we were potentially reloading this summer, not rebuilding with 20 guys already under contract.

I agree with you, there's no ponit in bringing in one of the best player in market when you're rebuilding...

Interested to see if he can earn binky status for anyone - at least for CHL.

Well, NBA is a different world, Datome it's better than Belinelli and up to par with Gallinari in our (European) BBall world, to bad he didn't fit well in Det, people keep saying he's a sharpshooter when he is not, or better is much more than this... Hope it isn't too late to see him bloom (expecially because he is a Celtic now)... As I predicted a confusionary situation has been not helpful for him, right now the Celtics is far more organized than Det so my hope do not die, hope he didn't get waived, sure he would have been more useful as an help from the bench in a winning situation...
