Love opting in on his final year allows the Cs to sign Melo to a long term deal first. Than work on a team friendly deal with Rondo and then take care of Kevin.

You have any reason to believe this, or just your current theory?

I don't even think Rondo/Melo/Love would be a great fit, but much like the Heat-- that's just too much firepower to warrant concerns over fit. Most teams just can't hang with that much talent.

Nobody has link Melo to Boston and that is what excites me. It the deal nobody sees coming. I feel if you get Melo, Love and we have Rondo. This teams needs a rim protector like a Tyson Chandler who does not fit Phil Jackson triangle offense.

Melo would bring a much needed primary, go-to option on the perimeter. I think the fit is fine.

The only thing I'm afraid of is a potentially massive contract on a 30 year old. That's not the easiest pill to swallow.

I think they fit. Love and Melo play better as guys within the flow of the offense. Melo really isn't an iso dribbling around kind of guy. There's enough evidence of that in Denver and the Olympics.

I just worry about our flexibility. I know it may sound crazy, but if bringing Melo in here WITH Love reduces our chances of retaining Bradley and bringing in Asik (or similarly talent center), I'm not sure I'd do it. That's where my hesitation comes in. Once you have Love and Rondo here, I'd rather build around them and fill in the gaps where necessary. If Melo is still possible with all of that, go for it.

I don't know if Melo is the primary target. At this point, Love is likely more valuable, given his age and production. Melo could close games out, which Love may not be able to do as well, but can he matchup with 3s anymore and into his 30s? Maybe. I could see that duo working with Love as the primary option, and Melo as the closer. I also think we could pick up Pierce for a closer, albeit off the bench. Still thinking about the potential small lineup with Pierce/Love at the 4/5 to close out games.

From everything I'm reading from you guys it seems like it's unlikely Smart is the pick at 6. Seems like pairing Rondo with Love or Carmelo is the main idea. You can find a way to hide Melo's defense at the 3.

heh aren't the Heat going for their third straight title?

If the team fits together anything like Miami does, i'll be a happy Celtics fan.

Re: Love/Melo fit

I pretty much just meant defensively. Offensively we'd have two of the best scorers in the game being fed by arguably the best facilitating PG in the league.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'd absolutely want that lineup. Apologies if it sounded otherwise.

Well, NY just so happens to have a pretty damn solid defensive center called Tyson Chandler and he has been rumored to want to get the hell up out of there.

Rondo, Bradley, Melo, Love, Chandler. Pierce for the vet min. That would be a legit contender for the next 3-4 years, with major chances of beating Miami. :droop:

Not happening but whatever. lol :P

This is the team I think Danny is shooting for. No doubt championship caliber

Wow I've never been personally attacked by a mod on the general board before. I better not get banned for calling him out for it, but I'm done posting there for a day or two maybe.

He could've added Boston or Rondo in that MVP line, but OK. :D

Who was it? Sherk?

You'll probably get banned, man but w/e. The GB is pretty horrible, and I'm not gonna lie, the racial conversations that came out of the Sterling incidents were really nauseating. Getting banned there is a blessing in disguise. Someone on the Cs board described it as a cesspool once. Very apt description.

Wouldn't be too surprised if Ainge went after Hibbert at this point of Hibbert's value. 2 years on his contract are perfect combo of flexibility and security. That is the kind of center you need with Love on board.

Nah it was Rasho. I might be exaggerating a bit, but it was still surprising to see...especially since I've kinda had respect for him over the years.
