Either Nader is giving a whole new level of meaning to the term "late-bloomer" or the quality of competition in the D League doesn't match what he faced at Iowa State. Has to be the former, right?

Think I remember reading that he transformed his body and really got into peak shape after graduating and going to a professional trainer. Would partly start to explain if he was late blooming. His size and speed really POPS immediately when you watch him. Maybe he's on some of that Rashard Lewis good stuff...

What a garbage that d-league is. Purgatory for unwanted NBA trash. How about they turn it into an actual league with proper salaries. Players with some actual basketball talent are sent there for some reps. Rest are dreamers playing streetball thinking they will get promoted and some day time office workers, mechanics, salesmen, security guards etc. filling rest of the rosters in their free time.
Does somebody seriously think it's a good place for player development? What Celtics playbooks are they learning there? How to allow 152 points? What a joke.

That's what they're in the process of doing with this new CBA, for now I agree with you though. The quality of play leaves a lot to be desired

I dunno. I'm both wary and excited about Nader. Wary because it's the D-League and we've all seen this story before.

Excited because his body was one of the reasons he wasn't great in college (he was solid). But the main one is that he has no problems acquiescing to play inside of a system.

His Iowa State team in college had all of the usage going through Niang (now with the Pacers) and Monte Morris (will be in the NBA next year barring injury). Those two guys are both players that have NBA level PG skills. Iowa State should have been a bit better than they were, even though they were good. What remains to be seen is how he defends at am NBA level. Coach Steve Prohm's teams usually defended pretty well even going back to his Murray State Racers days, so I am hopeful.

For the record. it's pronounced Ab-del. There isn't an English 'u' sound there.

I pretty much had thought that we had two Draft Stashes. -- But I see, that we really have three.

Abdel Nader, is a bargain, a steal and a deal, at 58 in the Draft.

In an article on Nader, it was reported that his first name is pronounced like "Abdul" despite the spelling.

One factor is that it might actually be better for his trade value to spend the season down there. Not that the D-League means all that much, but, he wouldn't get many (any?) minutes up here, and since we have his rights, any team we trade him to can go ahead and sign him for four years if they like this season or offseason.

Let him stomp down there all year long until teams actually start to call about him.

Ante had less than impressive 3/11 FG, 7 PTS, 13 REB, 4 AS, 4 TO game today, generally looking tired. Team's plan to play him insane minutes with less defensive intensity is complete and utter bs.

They've been pronouncing it "Ab-del" since I began hearing about him, through the Celtics, and now onto the Maine Red Claws. Nader himself, must prefer the "Ab-del" pronunciation. Cause if not, then he would have said something himself, by now.

The team is dying for a reliable back up three option. Young and Green apparently cant be trusted, Smart is too small and Jerebko is too slow.

One could argue that if he can be trusted defensively the way Smart was in his rookie year he might actually get some minutes.

American commentators aren't known for their foreign name pronunciations.
