Thank you, CrowderKeg. You rock.
Maybe time to become YabuseleCarafe?

No worries.
If Daniel can become the team's glue guy, TheTheisThatBinds is a consideration. But seriously, I like his court awareness in the highlights above, finding shooters when he gets the ball in the post. Good roll action in PnR and crashes the boards for putbacks. He might need to bulk up as he will get pushed around in the NBA.

If his 3 point shot is legit, and he can bury upwards of 38% by the end of this season, he will be just fine at his current weight.

Very keen to see him in action in Boston. I think he has a shot at muscling his way into the rotation, too. If his 3 pt shot is as good as advertised, the Cs might have a steal. The D is impressive.
Added benefit: he can slug it out with Yabs in practice, which might shorten Yab's learning curve.
He's got nice, quick feet and plays with a ton of energy, which bodes well on a team looking for switchable length/size at every position - he is theoretically a better fit for Brad's system than Baynes because of his footspeed and range.
That being said, it's a big jump to NBA 3 point land, though the corner is not so bad. He's also a foul-magnate, which doesn't seem like a big deal for a low minutes player, but can impact the coach's ability to effectively project rotations as excessive fouls in short minutes can hurt in-game strategy.
Count me as intrigued, but cautious. If he can hit spot-up shots consistently, his activity level makes him an interesting candidate to man the middle in 5-out lineups as he does a lot of "birdman" things when not floating around the perimeter.

excellent analysis.
The fact that the Cs get this guy on a multi-year minimum contract is pretty impressive. Zero risk, all upside.

With 5 rookies on the roster, at least couple are going to play, and the team needs them to play productively. I'm not sure this has been mentioned, but look at their ages:
Tatum: 19
Yabusele: 21
Ojeleye: 22
Nader: 23
Theis: 25
To put this in perspective, Brown is 20, Smart and Rozier are 23, Larkin is 24, Irving 25. (Jabari Bird is 23 as well. Kadeem Allen is 24.)
Most of the 5 rostered rookies are not young skinny kids, which is going to help their chances of integrating quickly. At 21, Yabusele appears to be fully grown (wait until he puts on some real muscle). Tatum is the young guy, but due to talent and draft pedigree seems a lock to contribute.
There's a good chance a number of these players will be ready to go at some point this season.

Theis doing work. Just got an and-1 rolling to the rim late in the game. They're about to win vs. Italy.
Edit: After the post above, Theis with two TOs caught not knowing what to do with the ball on the catch in the paint.

Ready to go, or not, some of these guys are going to play - the roster only has 6 vets on it. Unless Ainge has one more trick up his sleeve, the roster is designed to play inexperienced kids in central support roles.
I don't see Ainge brining in "vets" to take minutes. I don't think the objective is to max-out WL at the expense of player development. So, if Ainge doesn't have some secret big-time trade in place, the kids are going to play.

Looking at the listed weight of the 5 rookies:
Tatum: 205
Nader: 230 (surprisingly big)
Ojeleye: 235 (that seems light for him)
Theis: 243
Yabusele: 260 (more like 280)
Except for young Tatum, who will add on pounds naturally, these are some sturdy and extra-sturdy guys.

Except for Tatum, the other four guys are probably at their optimum playing weights right now. I would imagine Tatum will be around 225 or 230 by the time he is 25. No reason to rush it. He should follow whatever regimen Gordon Hayward has used.

It's not just about age, the pace of the game in the NBA is so much quicker.
Dario Saric left Anadolu Efes as a starplayer in Europe, 22 years old with a ton of experience in important tournaments. Yet he was one of the worst players in the first half of the season. The elongated three point line, quicker opponents and the pace threw him completely off. I don't have high hopes for Yabusele and Theis as contributors this season, at least not in the early months.

Speed and physicality (and fouling) are typically mentioned by int'l as biggest adjustments - agree that these two are likely to struggle early - though I wonder if Theis will do better with fouls due to more bandwidth for physicality.
I dont know if his foul trouble is from being handsy or because of initiating contact. Saric really struggled early because he was afraid to use his body to create space. Once he started throwing his weight around he really started to be a problem heading to the basket.

I think they all get their opportunity, but only Tatum and Semi are certainties. Theis will be a real gift if he can work out. I remember all the excitement when, after the James V.(Very) Young experiment the drafted four guys in the 20s in 2015--with now only TRo to show for it.

Theis for the reality check! Way to temper those expectations Daniel! I'm still rooting for you.
Valnciunas, who killed the Celtics last year and was going to be slowed down by Ante Zizic (but that won't happen now because, due to fate Zizic is now a Cav) goes for 27 points and 15 boards.

Theis an hopefully slot in for back-up big shifts, an play at least a Jonas/Zeller type role initially. But can't see him as serious minutes guy for awhile, if ever.

You are probably right, but I hold out a bit more hope for Theis. The NBA game is changing and if he brings a credible 3-point shot in combination with active interior defense, garbage hoops, and rebounding, he becomes a complementary starting 4 next to ball users like Hayward and Irving right out of central casting.
