Absolutely he is going to give you that 20/10 and if I can have him for Langford and the Memphis pick and some lesser assets all day long. If we are talking about packaging up Tatum and Brown with a bunch of other stuff forget it especially if it involves Carsen Edwards.

I think im with you. you know i like JB, but if he is the centerpiece, i trade him for KAT.

The other part is KAT is in year 1 of a 5 year deal with no options why does MINN even pick up the phone?

We should try and sign Marques Bolden to the Maine Red Claws.

I just looked again at the Grant Williams post scoring practice video. The one time he was stopped was by Kanter, right at the end. I think they bumped in some way and Williams lost his handle as a result.

Obviously they arent forced to, but theoretically that deal makes him the most valuable asset he is ever going to be. I suppose they only look at options if they feel he is making them a treadmill team (seed 8-11) and that they really need to bottom out.

I seem to recall similar thoughts about KG not being able to carry a team when he was with the Wolves (I was a Wolves fan until he moved to Celtics, since then I never left). Imagine what a competent front office and coaching staff could do for him

Sure I am just not paying for it. "He would be good on a good team" has a certain price and "I can believe that guy can win games with that dumpster fire" has another price.

When I think about guys elevating the team, I can't help but think of Pierce. We spent the 90s picking top 10 basically every year until we got him and within a few years he had turned us into a yearly playoff team. Fast forward to the 2006-07 season when Danny was trying to rebuild us. Pierce had us in the playoff hunt in spite of being surrounded by garbage and this was proven when he got hurt and we went on a 20? game losing streak. Ended up with the 2nd worst record.

That is the effect of a difference maker. His stats always had him ranked in the 10-20 range but his impact on our record was apparent.

My experience tells me either 1. Guys like KAT are no where near as good as their stats or 2. Big men just don't matter as much as people think, especially not offensive ones. Golden State's recent dominance lends credence to #2 but idk. Either way, KAT is a nice piece but I don't think you win a title if he is your best player.

Reminder:

In the 1980s the Celtics evidently practiced much more ferociously than is common today. One thing they did is play 5-on-5, including with odd lineup combinations like all-big vs. all-small. Despite the legendary talent of the bigs, the all-small teams would win. The level of detail in the anecdotes generally stops there ... but Ainge was surely on the all-small teams, and probably was their top scorer.

Love Gordos breakdown of the team, it’s tough not to get excited.

It’s fun to see a player sound like as much of a fan boy as all of us. There was a lot of cheese whiz in that article but 5 things stand out:

1. Marcus is the guy they all love to play with.
2. Carsen is a stud.
3. RW will be a beast.
4. He believes Kanter will do for Boston what he did for Portland.
5. He says anyone who thinks the defense will slip this year is in for a big surprise!
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

What I liked is that he wasn't afraid to call out that some of the guys aren't a finished product; ie, Jaylen "when he puts his mind to it", RWIII grasping timing to match his physical gift, etc... Plus, he's making great calls on specific skillsets on the new guys with a RGM degree of nerdery.

I took this week off so G1 would come quickly, it's not happening quick enough.

After Kyrie’s pledge to re-up and Jaylen’s promise of championships last fall, surprised to see Gordon out in front as Boston’s hype man. Glad he’s feeling confident enough to declare himself ready, but my gut says maybe he or his agent suggested this sub-Slam Magazine “Life moves pretty fast” piece because he likes being in Boston and doesn’t want to get traded.

Don’t install Grant’s ceiling too soon - he was a fantastic post scorer by the end of his college career, and it looks like he’s going to be decent as a midrange and perimeter threat, too. My guess is that Brad will give him more and more minutes as the season goes on, if he stays out of foul trouble, and some mid-range Brandon Bass type looks because he’ll be reliable.

Where are the reddit people watching this year? Based on way back experience and recent reports I do not want to waste money on NBATV.

We're still a year away from decent official broadband streaming - https://www.forbes.com/sites/ryanmcneal/2019/06/16/verizon-to-connect-all-nba-arenas-to-fiber-network-for-hd-broadcasts/#29a864422bd5 - but the league is apparently investing in getting everything to HD without dropping.

You mean NBA League Pass, right? And no, they haven't all been consistently in HD, and the signal still drops pretty often when you're streaming.
