He averaged 13 a night last year for MIN (on 45% shooting, 38% from 3) prior to being traded to ATL where he had a smaller role. His role next year figures to be more like that ATL role, but it's not like we're far removed from the Minny #s. If guys are sitting out injured or with foul trouble I think he can get up near that type of volume scoring Perk is talking about and I base that on him doing that just last year.

Teague is a guy (like Thompson) that I think may have become a little underrated while playing on bad teams recently. Not that he hasn't lost a couple steps, but I think he should definitely be an improvement for this team over Wanamaker.

One thing about Teague is he loves to get downhill, and he also loves to set up teammates off these actions. He'll bring a new dynamic that we didn't have at all from Wanamaker, and it's honestly can help a lot with all the great off-ball players on this team. Not a bad three-point shooter either; I'm hoping he's willing to up his spot-up attempts.

Plus notice he's put on a Celtics jersey. From there, you can easily deduce that the guy's committed to the team for the long haul. At the very least, you know he wants to be here for the duration of the season.

It seems these interviews were just made before/after practice lol so don't look into it that much. Can't trust these Hawks spies anymore :wavefinger:

I firmly believe Stevens can and will get the best out of him. He wasn't in a good situation in Minnesota, here he's gonna know what he's gotta do and get a 15-25 minutes niche carved out for him. He'll distribute the ball way better than Brad and I believe we need that more. This will also allow Smart to have the ball in his hands less and I think that could suit him better. I'm not saying he's bad with it but he has the tendency to try to do too much, certainly when we're behind.

I was pleasantly surprised when Teague was signed. I have NBA Pass so I actually saw him play last season and he reminded me of the player he was in Atlanta who always seemed to hurt the Celtics. But it was Minnesota and in a time where players are getting $50 million for just showing up, I thought maybe he was somehow damaged goods. Its early but this is looking like an absolute steal.

I thought Teague was kind of washed last year, but always liked him when he was in ATL and Indy. He's still a liability defensively, but I think with him around our bench will have a consistent scorer/initiator we lacked for much of last year.

teague is the most refreshing part of the celtics. just having a poised nba level back up point guard who can fill in as starter when needed is HUGE. even though smart has grown as a player, he will always be too shot happy to have my full confidence running the show.

Well as far as liability goes with PG we've had IT , Kyrie, and Kemba. Aside from Kemba taking some charges, we never had to worry about DPOY from that group. Teagues scoring ability definitely outweighs marginal defense.

Honestly, I thought we had no chance at TT or Teague. Figured TT was LA bound and Teague was going to re-up with ATL or at least get the tax MLE. Both signings were great. Teague in particular since he was vet min.

Ironic that he’s a liability on D and saved the game last night with his strip on Devencitiasiatis.

Kemba has limitations but his smarts, quickness and strength (and willingness to actually try) all make him passable.

His defense aint that bad like some are claiming.

Hasn't missed a 3 pointer yet in green. Plays steady offense and controls the pace. Finally a guard who can keep us offense going during rotational minutes. Without him our offense probably would've stagnated again and Bucks would expand their lead till halftime. Which would've resulted in Smart playing hero ball in the 2nd half.

I want to rescind my prior enthusiasm in this thread.
Homeboy likes to/can dribble. But other than the occasional poke steal he’s not making anything happen out there for himself or others. Plus for someone with a good 3pt % he doesn’t seem interested in taking them. Brad Wanamaker was always interested in taking them. Missing Brad Wanamaker! Sad!
