Smart's playmaking/passing skills are much underrated. His assist to turnover ratio is hurt by some careless, overly casual passes at times, but he has good point guard skills and instincts IMO. At any rate, once Schroeder is gone (please, please), Pritch will get more consistent meaningful minutes at the point and we'll get a better sense of what he can do to make his teammates better.

I find that Payton is a bit of a tunnel vision guy when he gets on the court.

I don't recall seeing Pritchard be better than Smart at anything other than shooting.

Of course, shooting is an extremely important skill, and could make Pritchard a better player than Smart. But I don't understand the theory that Pritchard is generally more of a PG than Smart is.

This Guy is Very Serviceable. High BBIQ.
But, can he be a Starter? Replace Horford at PF?

I don't think anyone can deny Grant has been the most pleasant surprise this season, Shooting with confidence and definite weight loss has helped a ton. So on that note I was looking tonight and was wondering if maybe Grant gained some weight back. Maybe not, just wondering.

I'd like to see him maybe 5-10 pounds lighter if possible.

I thought that too, then I saw one of their post-game workout clips on IG. Guy is ripped.

I think the bit of weight is still helpful when he gets switched on bigs in the post. I don't think Bam scored on him (only caught 2nd half tho).

Agree vs the Bigs, but I was thinking if he was a little lighter, his good switching this year would be even better. Either way, just a thought. Bigger fish to fry than this.

I was hoping Grant could be the 5th starter next to the core 4 but I don't think he gets enough points and rebounds to make it work longterm. Grant is at 11 points / 36. Smart at 11 ppg and Rob at 10 ppg. You need someone to be in the 15 ppg range. Maybe Grant can get there playing off the starters or maybe Rob can up his average. I'm not against trying it out this year but am skeptical of the long term fit.

When the Jays are at 55-65 combined it dont matter.
Smart at 11
Rob at 10
and Grant at 10

means you are getting well over 80 ppg from your staters.

Talking 1 point per game difference between Grant and Horf.

The potential hiccup is the decrease in rebounding and Assists
(although Grant boxes out as opposed to jumping for Boards which lets teammates grab more and he does move the ball)
but I think that gets outweighed by the tremendous increase in spacing.

The lineup of Smart/Brown/Tatum/Grant/Timelord does not have the defensive numbers as it does with Horford, but its offense is much better. So much in fact the net rating is better.

I mean, I'd roll with it next time we slump. Longer term he provides some switch and shooting at the 4, and his BBIQ seems real.

I mostly worry about rebounding, but in theory our team rebounding should be ok with the way Rob has been boarding this year, and with the Jays on the wing.

Currently, Grant is the only member of the exclusive and elusive 48/42/89 club!

I want his nickname to be space themed. Then the Williams can be the master of time and space

His mother works for NASA or at least she did back when Grant was drafted (now I can't fathom why ESPN decided to include that info instead of actual basketball analysis in Grant's draft profile but at least it came in useful once in my life). I don't know if that helps but it's a good reason to lean into the space theme.

Right under RW3, GW is my favorite story this year. Recommited his body and conditioning and took how many thousands of 3s to get where he is. Versatile and valued!!

Just read GWs NBADraft profile. He's exceeding expectations as of this year. Still bigger than his last collegiate year but that may come down too over the next few years. He'll need that elite combine strength to continue his development.

Edit: I was wrong. See below.

The play at the 2:00 mark here is classic Grant, robbed of a Tommy Point because we take proper play from him for ... well, we take it for granted.

Grant is the first guy down the court in transition. Maybe he should have received the first pass; there would be no "maybe" about it if he were taller and bouncier. What actually happened is that the pass went to Tatum on the right wing, and Grant set a dominating screen allowing Tatum a clear path for a layup.
