I think a big problem with Ime is he want budge an inch on defense. PP and Nesmith get practically no time because the aren't very good on D, and he isn't willing to make the trade out for better offense.

This team is so blahhhhhhhh. For cryin' out loud Brad, do something, and save us from this depressing basketball team.

Everyone but Pritchard played like trash. No need to single out Tatum
One serious post for a minute, I thought Nesmith looked awesome, and it was against the Sixers starters.

I turned off the game when they couldn't get it down to 10 points at the end of the 3rd quarter. This team sucks. Either fire Ime or get him new better players to play alongside Tatum and Brown. He doesn't like the young players and he is incapable of winning with the more senior players he has because they are not particularly good at anything. Schroder really really needs to be separated from Ime.

Him, Romeo, and PP just aren’t going to get consistent minutes from Ime. It’s pretty annoying, because it’s not like we are out there dominating.

Re: Well that was unpleasant! Postgame thread vs Sixers 1/14
Please insert Nesmith into the starting lineup
Smart/Brown/Nesmith/Tatum/Rob gives us a lot more versatility. The Horford and Time Lord experiment is a disaster. Their games do not compliment each other at all.
Play Pritchard more. Phase Dennis out because it’s obvious he won’t be here next year and Pritchard will be.
The other option is to blow the whole thing up which is shortsighted and stupid but strangely intrigues me lol

Nesmith freaking took a charge with a Goliath Embiid stampeding towards him. He stood his ground like he didn’t give two ****. That’s courage and willing to put it all on the line even when the rest of the guys were mostly sleepwalking the whole game. And it’s a crying shame that that courage will be rewarded with a DNP-CD next game as a result.

For the first time in almost any of our lives, the Celtics lack a strong connection to previous glories. Tommy is gone. Danny is gone. The old guys whose relationship is just to drop by from time to time are fewer and older.
Even Doc was an indirect connection, as he really saw the Celtics as the same franchise that the 1980s teams played for. But there's almost none of that left now.

Smitty had a good night of comments on a horrible game.

That said, I presume much of the same material will wind up in his 10 Takeaways post for the game.

I think Ime has given up coaching ball movement and player movement. Remember how he mocked Stevens for the Cs being 27th in assist percentage last season? Well, we're just 24th right now and we can't really seem to string games where that ball is popping and we're playing with more pace & purpose. Recently, they've been talking about "playing through the Jays". Translation: They really can't get them to play off-the-ball more so we'll just live and die by their "playmaking."

Get ready for more of the same. They are the face of the franchise. They will play the way they want to play, regardless of what Stevens or Udoka say or do. They've been coddled, empowered and (most of all) paid.

Not really! He’s desperate!
He has been throwing his players under the bus, and i think the players are responding negatively.
When Ime quit early in the 4th, when he pulled out Jaylen, he tried to low 5 Jaylen, and Jaylen ignored him totally and walked straight to the bench. Ime is starting to lose this team. That’s why he took the blame. It’s fake for sure.

Re: Well that was unpleasant! Postgame thread vs Sixers 1/14
When the Sixers went on a 28-4 run after we were up 10-4 in the 1st...well, I knew it was over then. This team just doesn't give any confidence they could come back from big leads.
Tatum and Brown have looked absolutely pedestrian whenever they've played the Sixers the past three years (the last good game they had against them was the blowout win in 2020). They might as well be invisible whenever they're on the court against Philly. Why do they struggle so much against them? The defense wasn't even *that* good, it was just our offense was completely horrible and the Jays just kept turning it over like they're addicted to mistakes. They just didn't have any freaking impact out there this game.
Just trade Schroeder for something more useful. He's been pretty good for us this year, but he's obviously not the best complementary piece to the Jays.
