Al seemed so washed up when he left for Philly. We just ran him into the ground, turns out.
Awesome resurrection. Solid player on both ends.

Good deal, think a far number of posters projected a contract similar to this during the summer discussions regarding Al's pending FA. Al's going to be a solid placeholder for next year at least and gives Brad some time to figure out the long term plan.

Welcome to the Celtics family, Mila Horford Vega!

Hopefully we get that New Dad Energy from Al in time for his matchup against Giannis. Cs need to keep that one-seed.

Very unusual for Horford to do. Either Wagner did something dirty prior to the play or Horford was running on three days of no sleep due to the new baby.

I think Al meant to get Wagner off him and took exception to the knee. He never turned around so I think he thought he’d make contact with his shoulder or stomach at worst. When you don’t turn around though you risk making contact with an area you might not have intended to. Luckily he didn’t make full contact and mostly missed or this could easily have been multiple games out for Al. I’m basing this some on the replays, but also a lot on Al’s reputation and history. I’m assuming the NBA considered that as well as Wagner not going down completely like he would have if Al made full contact.

Also, I generally like Scal because I compare him to color commentators around the league and not to Tommy who is incomparable, but his on air comments about Al elbowing were a bad look and very homerish for sure. If Wagner threw that elbow on Al he’d be saying things a lot different.

The comments in the first qtr about Al and Jrue were comical  . Of course Al is old, and for those that are still in their 20's relish that because when you get closer to 50/60 everything starts to ache and you move a little slower when you wake up, but once your warmed up it's all systems go for the day.

It's a 4 qtr game. The thoroughbreds will shoot out of the gate and set the tone but the grizzled vets will ease into the game and get a groove going. It was Jrue's 1st game back, he played 35 minutes, he was a +9 and he actually had a big offensive rebound that turned into a score to extend the lead at the end of the game.

Al is foundational for this team and I guarantee you Jrue will win at least two games in the playoffs for them. Not necessarily by scoring but making that heads up play, grabbing that rebound or making a lock down defensive stop when it's needed.

James, Doncic and Austin Reaves -- the top three perimeter scorers for the Lakers, and among the best in the league - isolated Horford 23 times on Saturday, per Second Spectrum tracking data. That's the second- most isolations against any player in a single game since player tracking began in the 2013-14 season.

The result? Horford allowed 0.39 points per direct play, per Second Spectrum, the second-best efficiency by any player to defend at least 15 isolations in a game in the past 12 seasons.

Overall, the Lakers shot 7-for-23 against Horford, with Doncic and James combining to go 3-for-14.

Oh. Al Horford was raised by a single mother, with his basketball player dad only getting involved later on.

So that's closer to Tatum's upbringing than I realized.

That's awesome! And no doubt well deserved.
Random thought: I remember when we used to hear quite a bit from Al's sister Anna. Is she quieter on social media these days? Or Zoya, are you the wrong person to ask, given, you know, restraining orders?

She got more heavily into politics last year, both US domestic and support for Palestine. That surely consumed a lot of her non-business posting energy.

I haven't tried to check what level of backlash she did or didn't have to deal with too.

“I mean, I feel good,” he told Heavy. “It’s obviously a lot of work for me to maintain and be out here to perform, but… I love it. I mean, I love it.

“So, yeah, I want to keep playing. This is good.”

During the post-Florida Gators tourney win, Horford let it slip that he will still play in the NBA next season.

Horford was in attendance with his son to watch Florida beat Houston last night for the National Championship. In the post-game interview, Horford was asked about Walter Clayton Jr:

“He’s such a smart player. He’s a team player,” Horford said. “He understood that they were going to double him. He needed to get his guys involved. So, he was looking to pass early, and then he took his moments late and scored some big baskets for us. So, he’s just a winner, he knows how to play, and I know I’m going to be playing against him next year in the pros. In the NBA. So, maybe he’ll be with us, who knows, but I’m sure he’ll be playing in the NBA.”

Sounds to me like not only does Horford want to continue playing next season but wants to do it for the Celtics. Horford couldn't be referring to Florida as "us" because Clayton is a senior, so he won't be at Florida next season. "Us" has to mean the Celtics.
