So... What have I missed?

Spoiler:
Checking in from a library in Gunnison, CO. First real net access in weeks. Probably in town tomorrow also, then back out into the woods.

It's been a fun last hour trying to catch up on everything that's happened, I'll tell you.

(It took me most of that to come down from the rage of full-maxing Horford. (I'm over it now - we did what we had to do. (I guess.)))

Spoiler:
For the record, as much as I didn't want him at this price, I'll call us at #2 in the east next year.

So with 4 hours to go, should we assume something is being discussed?

Both jerebko and Amir haven't had their deals picked up yet.

Maybe Danny is making the final rounds of calls, but they don't usually wait until the last minute to pick up options do they?
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

I don't think team has to do anything. They don't to have to "pick up" anything 'cos it's not a team option (they're both on non-guaranteed 2nd years). Just let the deadline pass and the contracts automatically get guaranteed.

I can't assume anything, but I'm no longer expecting any deals. Amir and JJ are back most likely. Then have them as trade ballasts later on if need be while being able to contribute like they had last season.

Is Smart our back up 2/3 at this point?

Brad doesn't see positions the way we do, but essentially backup 1/2/3. In Stevens' lingo, he's a ballhandler and a wing who comes off the bench and can guard 1 thru 3 (sometimes even 4s). Pretty cool that everyone on the main rotation can play at least 2 positions and pretty much everyone can switch on defense.

How much do you think a package of James Young/Mem 1st/Lac 1st will fetch?

I would throw this package at Philly for Noel or Okafor.

They have enough young guys and draft picks to hold them over for a couple seasons, and those picks will come when they have to sign most of their young guys. Maybe not the best deal, but it is a relatively harmless deal from our perspective because that Memphis pick will likely be higher than eight, and the Clips pick will be out of the lottery.

We can almost guarantee Danny was one of these GMs right?

I think they are done making moves unless they can take advantage of a Sullinger sign and trade scenario. Also curious what happens to Young. But I think we're looking at a rotation that may be back to going 12 deep on many (probably most) nights. Have to think it's: IT, Bradley, Crowder, Jerebko, Horford, Amir, Smart, Olynyk, Rozier, Mickey, Brown. Hunter and/or Young get periodic gunner roles.

Look to Miami. Deal there to be made I believe.

how much is a d-leaguer and a late first round pick three years from now worth? have to agree that your number is getting blocked unless you're trading for Anthony Bennett haha.

Would Miami really trade Winslow to make more cap space to re sign Wade? I know we dont really need him now but we know how much Ainge tried to get him.

In short. Yes. Why? Because they desperately want to keep Wade, although the best move is to let him go. If they do that there is no draw to playing in Miami and they are amongst the most bandwagon fans there are.

So yes, they NEED Wade more than he needs them. Put it this way, I don't think Al Horford would have told his Daddy the same about the fans in Miami as he did about us.

Thing is that Philly clearly has too many bigs that will likely need playing time, and they will have two top ten draft picks next season in a very good draft. So I don't think it would be beneficial for them to get more picks next season, and by then they will have 5 or 6 top ten picks on their team.

Will be interesting to see what else is out there.

The Memohis pick should be good. Won't be able to trade it for value until Memphis start missing the playoffs though. Can't get Noel or Okafor of course but I think it'll be a top 10 pick eventually

Yeah top 10 in 2021, but only DA trades for assets 5 years down the road.

not arguing that, just most GMs are worried about job protection. We're lucky C's ownership has done a good job of letting DA plan ahead.

Agreed. And if your always trading 5 years down the line then you still got the stuff from 5 years ago for now. Long term lightly protected picks are probably the best return other than stars on trades

There is zero chance that the heat give up Winslow to re-sign a hobbling, geriatric Wade. No chance in hell.
