I don’t think kat is top 5 or top 10 right now at all ...so I’ve been consistent that I would only trade Tatum for bonafide guys in the top 5,6, or even 7 and in fact I said I most likely wouldn’t even trade him for a fringe guy just in or outside the top 10. (Someone who is top 10 subjectively).

While there never any guarantees- on that you are correct the point is to pair Tatum with towns and win rings. Tatum has top 10 potential, kat has top 10 potential- brown doesn’t. U keep Tatum. U trade brown all day everyday.

Yah, KAT puts up stats, but he doesn't play defense and is a big reason for why Minny doesnt win. Im optimistic he can grow in a different environment but its not a given at all.

Hes a top 20 player and Tatum really isnt far off. I’m not trading Tatum and filler for KAT.

Wouldn't blame KAT for Minny's woes. He's a sensational talent that would be scary in a different environment like ours.

He is a sensational talent. I would absolutely love to gamble on his long term potential. But he also has a significant weakness and is absolutely partly responsible for Minny’s struggles.

Hes done nothing to prove that he’s a top 10 player, IMO. He has all the offensive skills in the world but he just cant elevate the performance of his team. To me, I dont understand what the argument is that he’s better than Tatum. Sure, he scores more at an insanely efficient clip, but he’s insanely bad defensively and bleeds points. He’s a taller Devin Booker.

People falsely equate him as an equal to AD but ignore that AD played DPOY level defense and was able to lead his team to the second round of the playoffs out west. KAT cant even lead his team to a winning record.

To be honest, the more I think about KAT, the less interested in him I get.

Kat wasn’t anywhere near top 10 last season nor is he now. He’s closer to 20. Pg was all nba 1st team

FWIW, RAPTOR has KAT as a slightly plus defender this year. RPM not so much

But yeah ive watched him a lot. His D isnt great. Hunts blocks, gets out of position, tries to guard the whole floor, takes plays off...its a shame, bc all the physical tools are there

Let's be clear I didn't put him there with AD.

I'd love to see him in a environment such as ours where the full potential can be tapped. Again at 24yrs of age I don't see what's not to like especially considering at his age he's closer to top 10 than any one of our current players.

To your point I've seen nothing from Tatum that tells me he's surefire top 10 player. Not even sold he's better than Brown, who even now, is criminally underrated in terms of his potential.

Yah we just fundamentally disagree on KAT. Got him closer to 20. Top 10 players dont continually fail to lead their team to winning records.

I don’t know about the masses, but at this stage of their respective careers, I’ll take George over Curry and Doncic and I would have taken him over Harden any time. Lol. Durant’s health is another question mark. I’ve got George top 6-7

Not really a trade, per se, but if Timelord continues to be out for an extended period, I would consider signing Joakim Noah. He was legitimately good for Memphis in a limited role last year and I think his savvy / smarts would help him integrate quickly with this team.

Last I checked 5 players take the court and there's the coach. Wiggins is their second best player. Minny not exactly a high level organization. He needs help.

Lots of good players didn't win in bad situations, let's not act like this doesn't happen all the time.

It's not even really about KAT, I respectfully don't agree with those believing that Tatum is the next coming of a superstar top 10 player or better.

I don’t disagree with the sentiment that good players don’t lose in bad situations. However, the Sota roster has far more talent on it than teams ahead of them in the standings. It’s not like Teague and Convington are **** vets.

Without thinking too heavily:

Giannis
Harden
LeBron
Luka
AD
Kawhi
PG
Embiid
Butler
Durant
Curry
Jokic
Gobert
Lillard
Siakam

Are all better than KAT. Thats 15.

Id include him in the next tier:

Klay
Irving
Kemba
KAT
Lowry
Beal
CP3
Booker
Tatum

KAT is good. Awesome potential. But guys like D’Angelo Russell and Spencer Dinwiddie and DeMar DeRozen and Vucevic can lead a team to a winning record. Hell, Kemba routinely led even worse teams to nearly 40 wins.

Dudes in year 5 now. Eventually this trend becomes quite troubling.

Look at the jump Jaylen Brown made from 22 to 23 years old. Brown is only going to get better.

Tatum at 23-24 years old is going to look nothing like Tatum at 21 years old. The fact that him and Brown could be all-stars now is gravy.
