Re: Welcome to Boston, Kristaps Porzingis!
If KP does indeed come off the bench, it would be a first in his regular season career. He of course already came off the bench for us last postseason, so it's not outside the realm of possibility.
Pritchard | Hauser | Tatum | Queta | Porzingis bench lineup would KILL teams. KP can cover for Q's defensive miscues in the paint. And they can still have four shooters with Q being a vertical threat, taking care of offensive glass, and setting picks left and right.

Interesting thought. I assumed Queta would see a reduction in minutes when KP comes back but I also have always favored larger lineups that has a ton of size.

They're already asking Queta to defend the perimeter, so he's essentially a 4 on defense. So Q will just be a 5 on offense with KP as our jumbo PF (he's not unfamiliar with that role from his previous stints on other teams). I think it's Walsh's minutes and Kornet's minutes that will completely disappear unless one of our wings or bigs sits, respectively. Then Horford's minutes will be reduced a bit.

I think that Porzingis should come off the Bench, and ramp up as long as needed.
Parl, apologies if I'm putting words in your mouth here, but this seems to suggest sending him out there before he's 'really ready.' I guess my question is why do that?
I guess I'm just really on board the 'slow return' train, which I assume to mean he scrimmages a lot in practices before stepping into a real game -- that's how he gets his conditioning and timing back, so then he's hopefully ready to start whenever they give him the green light to actually play.
I understand wanting to see this team at full strength, hopefully waxing the opposition like they did last year, but I want another title a lot more, so I'm fine with a January or later return for KP. He still might go down any time he's out there, but my mindset is to minimize the amount of time he's out there. While developing Queta and everyone else.
I might be wrong, maybe KP's back tonight against the Wiz, who knows?

Treat it like the season is just starting for him. He's doing his conditioning just like he would have in the summer. Maine will be his training camp and pre-season. I'd suit him up with Maine for their 5 home games (easy sell outs

Jayson Tatum: “We’re a really good team right now. When we have KP, we’re just that much better on both ends of the floor. Our chemistry is there.” Says Porzingis is like a “cheat code.”

1. Horford starts halves, KP finishes them.
2. 27 minutes of single-big lineups; 21 minutes of double-big lineups
3. 7 minutes of KP-Q double-big lineups -- should be fun!
4. 9 minutes of Al-Q double-big w/ JB make me squeamish.
5. Bigs play somewhere between 20 minutes to 26 minutes each.
6. Only one non-shooter in the whole rotation.
7. JT plays entire 1Q and 3Q; JB plays entire 2Q and 4Q.
8. I don't think KP coming off the bench is a thing. If it is, it won't last more than 5 games. There's still a way to limit his minutes with him starting and ending halves.

Finally people can stop talking about return timetable
It was pulled out of ass because there wasnt a single soul who knew exact months let alone weeks

14-3 without him was pretty decent. Great to have him back. Adds so much. I expect a couple games of getting up to speed though.
Jordan Walsh goes top 10 in a 2023 redraft.

Nice timing - back to back, so no Al. He gets this as a warmup game and then he and Al can alternate during that 5 games in 7 nights stretch coming up.

Yup just having his length inside on D and rim running on offense is all they need for now. Just let's them limit the worst of the bench big minutes and let him play himself into rhythm.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Kristaps Porzingis!
Perfect scenario going forward he has 52 games with no back to backs. Pretty much his average for the regular season than the post season with another 20+ games.
The crowds gonna go nuts when he gets announced.

I'd have sat him until the All Star break personally. Love his game, but the dude is glass.
We need him 25-30 minutes a night for conference and hopefully NBA finals. A couple of months tune up is all that's needed, not 5 months.

I thought mid season also, but I'm no doctor so....
If he gets cleared and it's not like the team needs him so it mustn't be a bad time to bring him back.
I love Neems progress but I think teams are challenging him more which is causing issues for him. He's not a starter yet, but he's definitely a 1st option 20mpg center at this point. KP finalizes the 5th starter spot and AL gets the 2nd of the back to back starts. Neems can play off both those guys.

Rim run or camp at the 3pt line?
