Great song, and awesome version. My buddy in high school & I actually taped this whole riverboat show off MTV on his VCR back in the day. Then we rigged up some Rube Goldberg monstrosity to get the sound from that onto cassettes to listen to on our 400 lb walkmans.
Agree on Sky Is Crying. Even though it's the posthumous compilation, it's the most consistent. Texas Flood and In Step are up there, tho.
One more random SRV story. I grew up in CT but went to University of Iowa for some reason.... May of freshman year, I bought tix with some buddies to go see Stevie in Alpine Valley, WI that fall. Go home for the summer and get back in the fall and they all bailed on me. I had to scramble to find 2 new dudes to go, bribe the crap out of another one to bum a car for the drive, and scalp the 4th ticket when I got there. The show was amazing. Robert Cray, SRV, Clapton and tons of guests like Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, etc during the encore. Ended up sleeping in the car & driving back the next day. By the time I woke up the following morning, Stevie had died in the helicopter crash. I ended up seeing his 2nd to last show and never letting my lame *** friends forget about it!
