Smitty731 wrote:I know some people aren't going to read pages and pages of threads so I'll post what I know:

1. The Celtics re-started talks with LAC about Blake Griffin. It expanded to a 3 team deal to bring Rudy Gay to LAC. That part of it may be done, but the Griffin part is still alive. I have this from 4 good sources that are close to the situation.

2. The Celtics are also apparently interested in Westbrook (which we all could guess), but I only have second and third hand info on that one. I, and many others in the media, have repeatedly been told the Celtics are dreaming big for this summer. Griffin and Westbrook would certainly qualify.

3. Early indications were motivation to get it done by this weekend before everyone cleared out after Summer League and took a break. I haven't heard anything more on that, but that more of a general feeling around the league than any sort of hard deadline.

4. I don't know this Deadmik guy and I don't know who his sources are or anything. Please don't ask me to validate his stuff. That has been good in the thread, but in PMs I'm just deleting them and no longer responding.

5. Danny Ainge is 100% in CA. No I don't know why. And he's actually not really in SD, but in between LA and SD. I have heard credible reports that Brad Stevens and Mike Zarren are in CA with Ainge. It is not uncommon for team's head guys to take a little trip after the first run of the offseason is over. IT is also in CA, but that seems completely unrelated.

6. I will not move off the fact that the Celtics were/are having Griffin talks. I am 100% that did happen. I am also 100% that the SAC part happened as well. Beyond that, I don't know where things are. Talks don't always mean a deal is imminent. Others have reported that a deal is imminent, but I can't confirm that.

So, you're saying the deal is Definitely happening today-!

Brown should be off limits to me. I am fine with trading Nets picks (one at a time) if it brings back a star, but Brown stays.

Even with a lineup of IT/Westbrook/Scrub SF/Griffin/Horford, Lebron would still challenge us. But it would probably go 7 and be a great series.

Pierce/Brown/Nader would do just fine at SF. This Nader kid might be a diamond in the rough.

I think there is a good chance another guy who wore green for a very brief time would return to play some SF too.

Lebron is the best player in the world, without a doubt, but even he can't beat that beast of a starting lineup.

Westbrook is miles better than Irving, Griffin is who Kevin Love wishes he could be.

The Celtics would automatically be the best team in the East and arguably tied with the Warriors for best in the league.

Perhaps, but we aren't keeping Crowder and getting Griffin and Westbrook.

But, this begs the question can it beat the Warriors? And if the answer is no is it worth dumping the Nets picks for?

Why are people so convinced they couldn't beat the Warriors? Or the Cavs for that matter. Sorry I just don't see those two teams as world beaters. Great teams yes, but as the past 2 years have proven both can be beat.

I said they can beat both, I just don't think they are favorites before playing a game, even if we somehow kept Crowder.

Even if you get rid of Crowder, a SF rotation of Pierce, Brown, Nader and a vet FA like Tayshaun Prince is solid.

Did everyone already forget the corpse of Richard Jefferson just played solid, meaningful minutes for the Cavs?
