A possible London Johnson to Celtics/Brad Stevens connection is Amir Johnson. He was an asst coach during the 23/24 season for the Ignite.

Maine has added a d2 player named Kam Warrens to their camp. They have 16 players and will cut down to 13 pretty soon.

Mildly informative Red/Green/Claws/Celtics article here:

Wheeler was a pretty good assist guy/floor general when he was at Georgia and then with Kentucky, but he's super small and can't shoot either (not even a good free throw shooter). Did lead the SEC in assists in back to back years though.

It's interesting all the small guards on the team with JD, Gaines, Wheeler and London Johnson.

There's 16 guys listed there. How many do they usually carry on a g league team, like 12 or 13? Between Gaines, Johnson and Wheeler, I figure that 1 (maybe 2) of them will get cut.

Especially since out of all 4 of our small guards, all of them have questions about their shooting. You can't possibly carry them all..

Then we don't need all of those big guys either. Between Pippen, Ward and Tchewa, I figure 1 (possibly 2) of them will get cut. Since we also have Watson and Dmytro for bigs, plus Enaruna who's more of a 4 but could play some small ball 5..

A starting lineup of JD, Scrubb, Peterson, Watson and Dmytro sounds pretty good to me. Or perhaps put Scheierman in there, with Scrubb as the 6th man.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

JD may succeed in hanging on with the big club for most of the season.

Maine Takes Training Camp Trip to the City of Champions
Spencer Martin / October 31, 2024

https://maine.gleague.nba.com/news/training-camp-103124
The Maine Celtics took a trip down to the City of Champions for two days of training camp at the Red Auerbach Center in Boston this week. With just over one week to go until the start of the regular season, the trip south gave the team a chance to improve their team chemistry in an environment that exudes inspiration in every direction you look.

"It's cool for them to see it and be a part of it and see the history. You see the banners; you see last year's banner and the quotes on the wall. You sort of understand that you get to be a part of it and you're not far away from it," said first year head coach Tyler Lashbrook....

"Some of the guys have said this is one of the most competitive camps they've ever been a part of at any level. It's a hard camp. We ask a lot of them physically and they give it to us, and they get better. It's one of the more competitive settings that I've been in," Lashbrook said.

Maine tips off the 2024-25 G League regular season on Friday, November 8 on the road against Long Island. The Celtics will return to Portland for the team's home opener on Friday, November 15 against the Westchester Knicks.

Scrubb will be interesting to watch this year. If he shows he's healthy and performs in Maine he could be a different type of piece for next years rotation.

JD Davison is with the big club on the road trip. Didn't need to go through Maine training camp, I guess, since he's already a 3-year veteran. Peterson and Watson OTOH are with Maine.

Maine's first (Away) Game is 7:00PM Friday, Nov. 8, 2024
Home Opener is 7:00PM Friday, Nov. 15, 2024

Key dates from the 2024-25 NBA G League season.

https://gleague.nba.com/key-dates
October 26: 2024 NBA G League Draft (1 p.m. ET)
October 28 - November 7: NBA G League Training Camps
November 2: NBA Mexico City Game 2024
November 7: Rosters set for NBA G League Opening Day (5 p.m. ET)
November 8: NBA G League Tip-Off Tournament begins

Maine will have to cut their roster down to 13 players by November 7, which includes the team’s three, two-way players in JD Davison, Drew Peterson and Anton Watson.

Basically Maine has to cut 2 (Non Two-Way) Players, down to 10.
The Roster goes to 13, with the 3 x Two-Ways.

Anyone sent down (like Scheierman) further increases the roster number/amount.
Any NBA Player, with more than 3 years, can go down as well; but cannot be compelled to (i.e. Springer).
