If anthony davis is the target I have a hard time believing danny is doing all of this blindly while having no idea if its even possible to get him.

I think he's just accumulating assets and continuing to build the team. That way, the moment he's available, Danny will strike. It took years for Danny to acquire KG.

Danny is the realest **** out there. Love the guy. He's swinging for the fences, but Demps ain't trading AD unless the ownership orders him to.

I have seen so many threads about cavs&rental George.

Cavs doesnt have future assets to convince Pacers. I think we can help them with our future assets and steal Kevin Love.

Paul George+ 2018 Lac 1st ===>>> Cavs
Kevin Love ===>>> Boston Celtics
3rd Pick + Tyler Zeller ===>> Indiana Pacers
Sorry for my English.

Pass on Kevin Love. He should stay with the Cavaliers.

Indiana Pacers acting like they have any leverage. What a joke. You have none. Paul George flat out told you he is leaving your team, and here you are acting like you have any leverage by asking for a substantial package. Accept whatever package you can get that is fair and move on.

I think the point of Cavs "renting" George is that they do it without dealing Love, throw in a first or two. It's in the best interest of the Pacers to deal him to LA and get back the 2, and/or Ingram, but they're going to play chicken - LA isn't interested because they can sign him later; Indiana is going to trade him for scraps.

Cleveland would honestly be better dealing Love for George: Kyrie/Shump/George/Lebron/Thompson actually hits the Warriors hard with perimeter defense, size/strength in the front court.

I might give something to Indiana to come away with Love. Really don't know his deal at this point. Is he itching to be the man again, or has he let them clip his wings to be the third option on a contender? Prime MIN Love makes our offense A++.

If we are making win now Moves I'd be happy with PG13 Or Love. I think the price for them will be reasonable. As long as they done waste assets on Jimmy buckets who would cost an arm and a leg ill be content. If we could get Love or PG13, tatum in this draft and somehow keep the brooklyn pick this offseason could actually be solid

On our current roster most people won't like Love but I think he fits well. We like pace and space and he certainly helps our garbage rebounding. Still not the missing piece though. Renting PG is risky. He is likely to smack you in the face and bounce to the West.

I'd gladly take on a Paul George rental.

Renting George won't cost anything. I hope we try it. We can win him over. He won't leave if we win and compete with the best.

What would the Celtics need to do in order to get Blake and Gordon while keeping Al Brown and IT? Maybe if they can find a way this is the route the team goes.

It's a real long shot. Looks like best way may be to trade out enough cap space that we can keep Jerebko's cap hold on books while signing a max FA. That would probably require moving Bradley, Rozier and Demetrius Jackson in a deal for no salary. Then you sign Hayward outright, and begin S&T talks with Clippers for Blake. Something like Jerebko on a very inflated 1 year salary to match salary plus Crowder who LA would likely want to fill their SF hole and several picks/prospects. Maybe you could turn it into a 3-way deal and send Jerebko and a pick or 2 Knicks way with Melo going to the Clippers along with Crowder. Blake would probably need to have BOS as his #1 choice but convince LAC that he was leaving no matter what, maybe to MIA if not BOS, and get them to work with BOS on a S&T.

So yeah, while theoretically not impossible, it's a very big long shot to make this type of thing work.

For those more cap inclined than I, would this be remotely possible?

IT/Smart
Brown
Hayward
George/Tatum
Horford/Zizic

Keep BKN 18 at all costs, fill out the roster with the MLE and minimum deals, call up Nader and Jackson to round out the roster. Give Yabs one more year overseas.

Not deep, but good

Yes. Just replace Rozier (traded for future pick) with Jackson in my scenario.

Spoiler:

Salary and tax bill in 2018-19 will be astronomical if IT and PG are both resigned to max/near-max.

Come next off season Davis should actually be available. Would two top 5 picks get it done? I gotta think if we included Jaylen that's def enough. If we had Hayward and George too that'd be a contender for sure. Let's say we have Jackson too and have him going into his second year and hopefully he's an elite defender that can at least knock down 3's. GS like everyone else, has no answer for AD.

So we all have our preference on what the Celtics do but let's talk about the plan Stephen A put out there.

Butler and Hayward to the Celtics.

Isaiah
Butler
Hayward
Horford
Zizic

Have to assume Bradley or Smart would go in the butler deal. Probably crowder too.

Jaylen seems a lock to stay.
Smart more likely to stay than Bradley.
Rozier or D-Jax
Yabu seems like a lock
Nader could be good.

Overall seems out bench will be super young.

Butler would fit in great, and cements us as a destination for players waived at the deadline.

To me, the ideal play at this point is to trade picks, Bradley and filler for Butler, then go all out to sign Blake Griffin and forget about Hayward.

IT
Butler
Brown
Griffin
Horford

is a heck of a starting 5. Crowder, Smart, Rozier, Yabusele, Zizic is a strong bench. Might even have enough to beat the Cavs. And we can build for the future at the same time.
