Since I've been too negative on KP, here's something to balance things out.

Since his comeback, the Celtics are #1 in opponent FG% in restricted area and #2 in opponent FG% in midrange attempts.

If our poor opponent FG% from 3 during that span can be attributed more to luck/shot variance than actual scheme/effort, then we're in good shape.

KP net rating w/ Jayson Tatum last season: +9
KP net rating w/ Jayson Tatum last playoffs: +11

KP net rating w/ Jayson Tatum this season: -1

And the net negative is persisting even as KP gets the rust off, KP+JT is still net negative in the recent games. This is a huge issue and a top three area of concern for the title defense.

Is there a reason these two can't play well together?
They do the high P+R to get KP some 3s
JT will occasionally lob a pass to KP posting at the nail
And: that's it?
KP + JB = at least a couple nice actions per week
KP + JT = who TF are you?

When he had 3 or 4 straight double doubles a few weeks ago, I felt he was about 85-90% back.

Random... KP shoots 13 percentage points better with Tatum on the floor than off -- 62.3% eFG% vs. 49.0% eFG%. Next largest difference for a JT teammate is 5 percentage points (Holiday w/ Tatum on vs. off).

Is it really random?
We know how our O have looked when JT sits :nonono:

That could be recency bias talking. For the season (1205 possessions), Celtics have ORtg of 119.6 when JT sits. That's really good. 86th percentile good. That's nowhere near the issues we were having when JT sits a few seasons ago.

It's called the "We don't want KP hurt before the playoffs" virus. Seriously, hope he recovers soon.

If hes around the team is it really viral?
If hes shooting at practice/before the game hes clearly better but something is still there.

I've got a ton of professional health care experience, "some virus but we don't know what" just means we have no clue what your problem is.
