That's another plus.

I'm sure Houston would prefer Simons over Sheppard right now.

And if you're Houston, KD is 37 years old, so it's a win now situation and Simons being an expiring gives you cap relief at the end of the season.

Who is Houston giving up?

All that really works is FVV and Eason for Simons and Scheierman

Simons for Sheppard doesn't work..the $ doesn't add up. Houston would have to add so many other pieces in that it likely wouldn't make sense for them.

No deals of significance will likely happen until January, at the earliest.

Let's all relax till then :)

Yeah, trade deadline is February.

A Houston trade will be difficult now because of the trade restriction on some of the Houston players.

But what if Houston is offering a 1st rnd pick and a player for PP?

That way the Cs can end up keeping Simons for the whole season.

Right now Simons is behind PP on the depth chart and Joe trying to make Simons a team player instead of maximizing Simons' scoring ability.

So like what I said in the summer, let's have a look-see then make a move if it doesn't work out.

Right now Joe insisting PP having seniority over Simons means Simons is the odd man out must be traded for a bigger player with a smaller salary.

Joe could feature him more, but he’d basically do what he’s doing now but on slightly more volume. Your look is 3 games? You replied against every trade proposal all summer and after 3 games and “Joe not using him right” you wanna dump him to save money?

Yes, all I wanted was a look-see.

Clearly if Simons were to be playing in crunch time, it will be White, PP, and Simons along with one big and JB.
That's just too small.

It will only get worse when JT returns.

In the summer, I was thinking Simons was ahead of PP on the depth chart.
If that's not the case then might as well trade Simons for a player with a lower salary who can be a contributor off the bench.

Simons is supposed to be a starter with the absence of JT.

This is not on Simons, this is on Joe.
Joe is simply going the seniority route.
There's no way PP is better than Simons.

Nah, it's not on Joe. His 7 years in POR showed he is a great shooter/shot-maker, but incomplete offensively beyond that. It's who he is. Yes, he flashes secondary creation, and yes can improve, but we're seeing what he's been - just on lower volume than in POR. That's why I was saying it wasn't only defense. My main reasons to move him were he was redundant to our 3 main guys, would block our young wings from getting time, and keep us in the lux tax for a bad team.

I'd have started him just to let him benefit from playing with JT/White more and have Pritchard run the bench. But, that's because I have more faith in Pritchard, and want to boost Simon's value. Not because I think Simons is better.

Simons is the perfect example of the empty stat player. Of course the day will come when he drops 30 and the Celtics win, and everyone will say "See he's not so bad!" while forgetting that the team is 11-25 and forgetting how he helped lose every one of those 25.

Indiana's front court is arguably worse than ours and they don't want him anymore. What does that tell you?

All they have at center is Tony Bradley, Jay Huff and Isaiah Jackson.

Also, we are unlikely to sign a guy to the 15th roster spot..we're probably leaving that spot open to save $ and have flexibility for future moves.

Wiseman is terrible. He got waived for a reason.

I spent all summer making the same arguments about why Simons wasn't going anywhere this year that are coming up now and there's still a suggestion that we might move him. Either Hauser moves or probably no one.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Walker Kessler is having a brilliant start to the season. Would be perfect for us (he is very durable for one thing)

A couple of FRPs (including ours this year unprotected) Simons, Hauser, Walsh and maybe some pick swaps enough to tempt The Jazz ?

Probably not but it's fun to dream

Reports last season said Ainge wanted 2 FRPs.

This season, I read that Kessler wanted big money, that's why the Jazz failed to give him an extension.

It's not actually a dream if the Celtics are just willing to pay the price for Kessler.

Would anyone do Hauser for Anthony Black? ORL still needs shooting. We need a longer term PG. I’m not sure I’m for it or not. Just throwing the idea out for discussion. Don’t factor Simons into your decision + just to keep it simple.

I'd be interested, but I haven't checked in on Orlando, they seem to be struggling, is Black getting minutes?
I liked him in the '23 draft and he has good feel, good size, good explosiveness for a guard. He's not a shooter though
The problem is he has this year and next on his rookie deal and then what is dollar amount is he expecting as a recent 6th overall pick?

But I'd kick the tires on it. The guard from that draft I'd love, probably a pipe dream, would be Cason Wallace out of OKC.
