He wouldn't have agreed to that extension and probably would've bet on himself with numbers to back up his demand for higher pay possibly elsewhere. Someone would have priced them out in RFA. By "playing him behind vets," they were able to evaluate him behind the scenes while keeping his market value low. They kinda did the same with Timelord (though injuries were a factor in his RFA too) who played behind the likes of Theis, Baynes, Thompson, and Kanter.

So thank you Smart and Brogdon, I guess. Pritchard is playing like a starter-calibre player on low-level role player money. He keeps this up and stays healthy, someone might back the Brinks truck up on his next contract (UFA).

2028 is still a long way to go.

Captain Obvious really needs to reply to everything, adding essentially nothing.

Yeah, like talking about a Brinks truck that will not come until 2028 will add something to 2025, 2026, and 2027.

I made this statement last season, and it applies this season again. PP's 3 point % would be even higher if he didn't take so many "I don't give a damn, I will let it fly" last second shots from all over the court. Just guessing on flawed memory but thinking he has done that at least 10 times this season.

Also still think PP is the "evolved version" of Mark Price.

I always valued PP highly but was also guilty of fake trading him a lot. Also always held fast that he should be looked at as having a late first round value.

At this point he’s worth multiple number ones overall so not even worth talking about.

I liked Pritchard from the beginning. I figured that he had grit.
But, no one saw this version of Payton Pritchard coming. -- Surprise, Surprise.

He has pushed the argument, to be a Starter. Hopefully though, he stays as the Bench PG/6th-Man.
Celtics can go far with this type of Player. Especially as a 6th-Man.

Not correct. BostoncouchGM did and some guys ridiculed him off of this board. Too many members on this board spend all their little posts ridiculing others for having an opinion that goes against the stream. They are sorry little insecure people who say nothing.

Someone should get BostoncouchGM back on here. He is the true President of the PP fan club.

How sure are we that Bostoncouch didn't just change his handle/username?

via Taylor Snow:
Payton Pritchard has reached 100 3-pointers faster than any player in Celtics history to start a season, reaching that mark in 26 games.

Just broke Kemba Walker's record of 100 3s in the first 27 games of the 19-20 season.

One major difference: PP's done it all off the bench.

Image

Pritchard also became the fastest reserve in NBA history to reach 100 3s in a season.

Davis Bertans previously held the reserve record with 100 3s through his first 27 games off the bench in the 19-20 season.

Pritchard beat that mark by one game, as well.

Bro I love this guy, and am so glad we locked him up. He's essentially a Celtic lifer because of that contract, and am all here for it. That stat above is ridiculous, and shows how much confidence can impact players. After those two big shots in the finals PP has had a confidence in himself, and trust from his team mates, to just let it rip whenever he wants, and this is the result so far.N

Dude already has 13 games with 5+ made 3's, that is ridiculous. He's also been a solid rebounder all year too.

Never thought this guy would win any player awards, but that 6th man trophy is honestly his to lose this year.

I can't wait to see him in the playoffs this year, He rode a lot of pine last year, and I think he wants to ball out in the PS too

Cs won more or less 5 games because of PP.

The first 2 wins against the Bucks was because of PP.

There will be 2 reasons the Cs will be unbeatable in a 7-game series, first is a healthy KP and second a productive PP.

If the Cs have those 2 things in the playoffs, Cs will repeat.

The bench was questionable last season.

Not this season.

Thanks to PP.

Brian Scalabrini doesn't think it would happen, but I think PP deserves the 6th man AND strong consideration for the MIP award. 6th man should be a lock at this time. Not sure who would be in contention for MIP.

Without much thought or research... here are a couple of names -- Herro, Jalen Johnson, Franz Wagner, Norman Powell, Ty Jerome.

Still 2/3 of season left. Too early to call anything. But PP should be in contention for both if he continues this type of production and impact.

I'll admit I used to be one of the many wanting to trade PP for a late 1st, Delon Wright, and countless others mentioned. I love his play, but at least the trade would have ended the PP jokes around here lol. Can we just stick to fart jokes like mature adults?
