4 akeaways.
#1 It maybe bumpy for a bit. Roles, fits, etc.
#2 super talented. We know what Tatum, Brown and White are capable of and who they are. Zinger looks like a perfect relief for those guys. And Jrue does everything Smart does but with less drama and smarter decisions.
#3 like Crum said earlier. We may need a little more muscle off bench. Someone whose rugged, can defend and board and be somewhat of an enforcer. Can Stevens be that guy?
#4 Joe wasn't good after being terrible last year. Makes me a bit nervous. His min distribution is gonna have to get a lot better can play our guys such a heavy workload all year. Where are we gonna find some mins?

You won't beat good teams giving up so many offensive rebounds. Jrue makes up for Smart, but no one is capable of filling the Timelord's role. And if Mazulla thinks Hauser is the new GWill, he better think again.

LOL "the new GWill"
If GWill had played this game we would've lost.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

We just beat a good team.

Let's not forget the Cs lost the season series to the Knicks last season.
This is not a win over a lottery team, this is a win against a potential 2nd round opponent in the playoffs.
And the Cs only lost the rebounding battle 46-47.
If some of the Celtic fans can't appreciate this win then their expectations may be too high.

I agree. What was most important about this win was the methodical and professional way they came out of timeout down 99-93 and just won the game.
I think the starting 5 has so much talent that some guys - tonight it was Brown and JRue - are going to seem underutilized and might force some things unnecessarily. Joe has to figure out ways to get the most out of roster and players have to make sacrifices. It’s going to take another 20 games.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Last year's team would have lost this game. They were terrible in close games (incl. OT).

What role was that? Missing more than half the season only to return at less than 100%?

Yes, Hauser was awful and I've never liked Kornet. It's game #1. The rotation will fix itself.

I think he's trying to say that while KP might be our 2nd best scorer, the goal is to keep him healthy all season and for 4 rounds of playoffs so perhaps having him be the 2nd option for 82 games and 4 rounds of playoffs would put too much of a workload on him, we'd be working him too hard by having him take that many shots and he'd be more likely to get hurt, less likely to be healthy come playoff time.
JB and Jrue have been more durable, both have proven they can be a 2nd/3rd option for 4 rounds of playoffs and stay healthy.
I get it. I just don't agree. I'm not for babying players. Porzingis needs to be out there playing to his ability every night. Like Drago said in Rocky "If he dies, he dies"
It's not like he's down in the post banging all game long.

The Knicks number one strength is offensive rebounding. That’s what made them a 47 win team and a second round in the playoffs. They just went into their house on opening night and won. What are you talking about?

I figured if we'd lose a game, someone would mention losing Timelord and Smart, but I never would have guessed that when we win, someone will mention losing Grant and Timelord.

Yeah I suppose if we're worried his workload and want to be cautious to keep him healthy, we could just give him games off here and there and just don't play him more than 30-32 MPG.
But when he's in the lineup, I suppose it's fine to play him as the 2nd option, if that's what is best for the team to win games.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

They needs to get Hauser out of there and put in someone who can get a defensive rebound. Lamar Stevens anyone? And don't try to convince me that the Knicks are a good team. They aren't.
And what happened to ball movement on offense? What about playing fast? Last night it was dribble it up slowly and shoot.

I mean, depends on what one calls a good team. Knicks were a top-8 regular season team last year (8th best record, 7th net rating, 7th schedule adjusted net rating), and a second round playoff team. If anything look like they should be neutral to a bit better (Josh Hart all year, added Divincenzo, didn't lose anyone, probably make more win now trades).
Agree though it's much more fun when they play faster and win the transition battles.

The Knicks aren't a contender, but they are a good team still. There's levels too it for sure...
They were a good team last year and a lot of that is them crashing the offensive glass which concerns us all. I think it won't rear its ugly head as much against other teams, but it also led to us over doubling them up in fast break points as there were times we got longer rebounds and go out running because they didn't have enough guys back. Our 18 points last night would have been .1 behind league leading a season ago. We won't get out and run that same way every game, but the Knicks also are a low turnover team so we'll make up fast break points in other games by forcing more turnovers instead of taking advantage of the other team crashing the glass so hard.
