I love the offseason, people are actually talking themselves into the Knicks being a threat. That's cool. I did enjoy watching that title at Villanova though.

If they can get Hauser extended this summer at a decent number that’s huge. Would assure them of being a second apron team but if he makes it to UFA next offseason he’s gone for a big ole bag

In response to the Knicks reuniting the 2016 Villanova title team, the Celtics have signed Corey Brewer, Joakim Noah, and Marreese Speights to minimum contracts to join former Gators teammate Al Horford.

Since the famous DJ White/Jason Terry trade of 2013...
• the Nets have missed the playoffs 4x, never made it out of the 2nd round, and are likely tanking.
• the Celtics have won the title 1x, made Finals 2x, made ECF 6x, and missed the playoffs once.
Thank you Danny, Brad, and Billy.

The Nets are doing the right thing--clean house. I might be interested in Claxton if he could make a free throw, but he can't.

Re: Free Agent, Trade & Extensions Thread, 2024-25
With the Bridges trade and the Knicks still wanting to retain OG and Hartenstein while potentially being hard capped, Precious Achiuwa might end up hitting unrestricted free agency vs. getting a qualifying offer.
Seems unlikely he'd have to settle for a minimum deal but you never know. Malik Monk in 2020-21 averaged 12 points/game for CHA on 40% 3 point shooting with lottery pick pedigree and as a 23 year old free agent he took a minimum salary deal with the Lakers. You never know what can happen in free agency. Monk saw an opportunity to play a lot with a good situation in LA and parlayed that into a FA deal with the Kings after.
Achiuwa is a young guy who could maybe view this as a great situation to get a lot of playing time in a really good situation for him with the injuries/rest situations for Porzingis/Horford. Just throwing it out there as a guy to consider if his market doesn't materialize.

Worth keeping an eye on.
But I think if he hits free agency, he probably would want to sign somewhere where he'd have more guaranteed playing time.
Depends of course what happens with Tillman, Kornet and Queta..but if we bring all of those guys back, he might not want to sign here where he'd have to compete with those guys and Al and KP for playing time.
But if we don't end up bringing some of those other bigs back, then sure, he could certainly be an option..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Re: Free Agent, Trade & Extensions Thread, 2024-25
I wonder if there could be some type of sign and trade..where we could get Claxton? He comes here via sign and trade..we send out KP...we send out draft compensation since that's the only way the nets would do it (they don't want KP, they're blowing their team up)
And KP could be routed to a 3rd team in the deal..or KP could get routed elsewhere in a separate deal..
So we're left with a younger, much less injury prone big man - on a cheaper contract..

We can't receive S&T'd players. We're hard-capped.

Ah, bummer.
I wasn't sure if we couldn't receive S&T players at all (as you say) or we could do it, but it would just result in us becoming hard capped..

You know who the Knicks remind me of ? The 2018/19 Celtics.
A lot of talent across the team but then you realise their best player is a 6ft guard & that only gets you so far.

Re: Free Agent, Trade & Extensions Thread, 2024-25
My guess is that the next move for the Knicks will be offloading Mitch Robinson's contract so they can re-sign Hartenstein as well (probably attaching picks to do so). They'll layer that deal into the Bridges deal as a 3-teamer, which means that they'd be sending out more money (Bogi+Robinson) than they're taking back (just Bridges). So instead of being hard capped at the 1st apron, they'd be hard capped at the 2nd apron.
That means they can re-sign Achiuwa who was pretty solid for them as well.
Brunson / McBride
Bridges / DDV
OG / Hart
Randle
Hartenstein / Achiuwa
That's my prediction for the rest of their offseason, but we'll see.
