ddb wrote:Here's my quick hot takes through 3 games.

Pritchard: Looks ready to contribute on a regular basis. Can make the argument that he contributed quite a bit last season, but he looks further developed and ready to help out. Awesome shooter, he's a gamer, and stays calm. I really like this kid.

Nesmith: My way too early choice to start with the J's. He's going to always be a threat to make 3's. Pair that with his size, length, and hustle and I just think he's a no brainer to start. Doesn't mean he needs to play 30mpg, but let him get his reps with the starters and see how he does. Celts need him to be that guy in order to reach their potential as a team.

Romeo: Unlike Pritchard & Nesmith, I don't think Romeo has quite figured out who he's going to be as a player/contributor at the NBA level yet. Part of that is a lack of playing time due to injuries. You're talking about Mr Basketball in Indiana. Go-to guy in his lone season at IU. Now he's being asked to change who he is, and rightfully so because he isn't ever going to be a star caliber player (I don't think). But he is talented, has a good wing span, and has potential to develop into a lock down defender, secondary ball handler, and useful player. He just needs to accept that and then go out and make it difficult for Ime to take him off the court. Developing a respectable corner 3 would help his case for time too...

Yam/Begarin: Ideally, they both stay overseas and get another year of playing heavy minutes and developing. Both talented, both could be the equivalent of bringing in a lottery pick if they keep improving overseas.

Hauser: MY GUY! I've been saying for YEARS that Boston needs a Korver type. A specialist. Danny just never found that guy. I'm not even sure if he attempted to find that guy. But wouldn't you rather have a 3pt specialist at the end of the bench then a player like Edwards who's better suited to be a featured scorer in Europe? I know I would. I'm rooting for this kid. I can absolutely see him as a specialist that can come in and make shots in short minutes. And who knows, maybe he's so good shooting that he can expand his role some.

Bruno: Looks as advertised. Depth Center. He's physical and strong. Raw offensively. Wouldn't hurt you if you needed to play him in short minutes. Not expecting much from him as a guy like Kanter would eat him for lunch, and Kanter is our 3rd string center lol

good post. I read this after my post in the Hauser thread and glad to see people recognizing
what Hauser can bring to the table.

Joe Mazzulla says Payton Pritchard's summer league is over, but it's because of a prior engagement that had been discussed with the team

He certainly made the most of his court time. Now who starts at point?

If so, that's a serious blow to our S.L. championship chances. Seems like Madar is not 100 per cent so that leaves everyone's fav Carsen and maybe Romeo comes back from his leave and gets to show his playmaking skills.

Romeo, please?? Crazy! Carsen is really a shooting guard. Hope Yam heals fast.

I think we can coast, without Pritchard.

This video:

1) confirms what you have all already said, that Pritchard is done for summer league

2) Mazzula is clearly very high on Nesmith. He says "he's gonna be a great one"

That's encouraging for Celtics fans. Sure, sometimes coaches just talk up their players in the media for PR reasons, but the way that Mazzula says that, it really seems like he means it.

And Nesmith's college coach Jerry Stackhouse was quoted saying that Nesmith will be an all-star in a few yrs.

Oh yeah and to add to the Nesmith hype, there's this...

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Love Celtics SL.

I will be interesting to watch Yam.

The player I'm most interested in watching is Nesmith. I feel like he is going to have a big year. I liked the way he played the last month of the season. I hope he builds on that in SL and into the new season. Something tells me Nesmith has a chance to be an all-star type player in a 2 or 3 years. Not saying he will, but he has a chance based on his skills and work ethic.

Not only did Jerry Stackhouse say that, I said the same thing in this thread (on page 6), before the 1st game got underway.

I'm hoping he becomes that type player for us.

He needs to do a better job on landing though, he falls to the ground too much.

I think the biggest thing with Nesmith is just going to be getting reps in the real world and not getting down on himself. When he’s feeling it, he does have a sort of rare ability and fluidity in hitting shots off the dribble. Obviously the defensive energy last season is what continued to keep him on the court but definitely hopeful for year 2. We need shooters and if he can be consistent, we at the very least have ourselves a starter with a late lotto pick.

sounds very much like he doesn't want to go back to France.

meanwhile No PP, is Yam 100%?? or even playing?? I like Begarin's passing a lot, but don't see him as a PG. Romeo?? so that means Edwards, our 5'11 shooting guard will be running the point.. :o

I am getting an early blast of Tropical storm Fred, this game this after noon will be my Saturday highlight.

When was the last time some said LET"S GO!!! for SL game 8-)

Kinda bummed Payton isn't playing anymore just because he's been awesome and I'm trying to win that SL championship.

Not to be an alarmist, but, I hope this isn't going to be a problem. The player still needs to AGREE to be stashed.

I'm hoping that one reason Romeo was held out of the last game was that he was going to get heavy usage in this one.

Also BRUNO let’s go!

As caption of the Bruno fan club (my binkie in the draft. We ended up taking carsen instead, yuck) I am 100% rooting for this guy and happy others are warming to him. Let's gooooooooooo!
