East PotW prediction: Darius Garland (edging out Tatum)
West PotW prediction: Nikola Jokic (edging out KD)

Hoopshype rooking rankings to start the season.

From a Celts perspective, some posters on this board were pretty high on Mogbo, Jaylen Wells, Ajay Mitchell and Filipowski … all on the board for our FRP and all making the top 15 at the early mile mark

Philly 2.5 games out of the 3rd seed and Milwaukee 3 games out of the 3rd seed. Have a feeling some of these East teams will be kicking themselves later for their slow starts.

Is there any way that the Bucks could convince the Pelicans to give them back their pick protected 5-30 this year? Would OKC trade Chet and the largest pick stash ever for Giannis?

If I'm the Bucks and I can get in the race for Flagg via firesale and also get Chet plus picks, that's honestly not the worst outcome. I struggle to ever see a Giannis trade that makes sense to me, but if there'd ever be a team to do it it'd be the Thunder.

Pelicans can hold them hostage but Bucks should still have more than enough assets if they get a boatload from OKC for Giannis plus whatever they can get for Lillard, Middleton, Lopez and Portis respectively. Pay off the Pelicans and possibly even Brooklyn to get full control back over their own pick in '25, tank like there is no tomorrow (sell off everyone else for picks/expirings, hold Chet out for the rest of the year). Roll the dice on getting their next generational talent in this draft.

2025 is apparently a good top-end draft class even outside of Flagg. Best case scenario they land him plus Chet and have tons of cap space to try to rebuild around the next big thing. Worst case they settle for a lesser guy but still blue chip piece and have reset the deck completely. It's a 2k thing more than a real life thing, but this is the only real scenario where I've thought that the Bucks could actually trade Giannis and have it make sense for them.

For OKC they pair Giannis with Shai and an elite cast of roleplayers. With Chet on the 2nd freak injury of his short lived career, maybe that's the impetus to push all the chips in and who better than Giannis to do it for.

Presti will inevitably stay the course, which is probably the right choice. Bucks will inevitably player better and convince themselves that they still have a puncher's chance at winning it all, also probably the right choice. Still though I love the idea of a trade like this.

Cavs look unstoppable right now . Hopefully we play them soon and show them who’s boss. I mean the cavs are taking care of every team on their schedule right now.

Garland will be a problem.

We need KP for those pesky, speedy little guards.

Very good test for this team. Right now they’re handling their business talking about the cavs.

Would be fun times if the Cs lose to the Cavs next week.

The overreaction would be similar to that of the loss to GSW.

Cavs join the 1983 Sonics (12), 1997 Bulls (12), 1958 Celtics (14), 2003 Mavs (14), 1949 Capitols (15), 1994 Rockets (15), and 2016 Warriors (24) as the 8th team to start a season with 12 consecutive wins. Cavs gonna raise a banner if that reaches 15. Take that, Cs!

We need to just admit the Cavs are a great team and a very serious threat in the east.

For sure, may very well end up 1st in the East. But Cs are still a bad matchup for them. No wing defenders, two starting guards the Celtics can exploit on defense. Just not a winning formula against us. If KP is healthy, Celtics in 5, maybe 6.

A healthy Magic seems more of a threat to me. Wolves and Thunder too. Any team that has lengthy, physical players to throw at the Jays/KP and can switch everything.

Yet he gets zero criticism. The media bias is egregious.

Luka is amazing no matter what for some reason, except for being fat. That's his one issue.

I knew Towns wasn't a great defender but I didn't know he was this much of a disaster. Knicks tied for 21st in defensive rating. I would say a team needs to be at least top 10 in defensive rating to be a serious title contender and ideally you want to be top 5. Celtics currently 6th in defensive rating, OKC 1st.

Expectation: Get a couple of wing stoppers to "match up" with the Celtics.
Reality: Waste a billion dollars and picks on a couple guys that are going to be parked in the corners while the Celtics put Brunson and KAT into every action.

And it’ll happen in the first round instead of ECF
